....Is it any good?
I wasn't very impressed by the DBTT documentary, so I"m hoping the fact that this album is much better, and the fact that this documentary is 35+ minutes long, means it will be some great footage....
Part of what I love about this band is watching their interviews and them discussing the music, so very curious....
(Going to pick up the album after work tonight...)

Not that this helps answer your question or anything, but I get a very good feeling about the doco. And I too am picking it up after work. 6:00 can't come fast enough

it's not bad. some pretty cool insight on the album on it. covers all songs, and has some nice clips of other stuff from the sessions (bits from other songs, some clips of oasis and kasabian playing together, etc.). it's good overall.

the stuff about noel and demoing was pretty cool. that and his other comments about having better songs left over give me good hope for the future. they really shouldn't take a break. this is the second wind. there's that part where noel is in front of speakers and a mix board listening to a song, and if i had to guess i'd say that was "come on, alright", but i'm not sure. what did he say that song was like? was it rockin? if it was, then it wasn't that song. hope to hear it on the next one

There was a part where Noel was playing the piano on his own. Don't know weather it was an actual song or if he was just messing about but it sounded pretty cool.

i think it was him just messing around. his poking looked kinda funny, sounded cool though.

yeah, it thought it was alright, nothing too fancy, not too long either but it was worth the extra 3 bucks.

I like it a lot. Especially the cuddly den of fairy lights they built in Abbey Road.

I liked the doc, but some of Noel's comments bugged me, such as his statements about not 'challenging himself'. saying things like " I'm just doing this to put out an album, go on tour and make a few quid" or whatever....comments like that struck me as odd
cool doc though, overall

yeah also the one big let down for me was the fact that other than "the shock of the lightning" video and making of, it was all shot in 4:3 format, it should have all been in Widescreen format(16:9) but whatever...

I actually thought Noel came across as a bit of a dick. I wish he'd stop bad mouthing Liam all the bleedin' time but, more importantly, I wasn't impressed that he kept having little digs at the album. I really think he takes too much notice of the critics and has got into the habit of slagging off his own work (e.g. "Lyla is shit, the record company made me put it out as a single") as a defence mechanism.

It was alright. Not much more insight than the DBBT doc, really. Would love to see a bit more of an in depth doco on the boys, like 10 mins or more per tune with footage of them actually recoridng it, arguing about the parts, etc (not just generic "studio larks" footage).

I thought it was ok. Personally, I was expecting a bit more. They had some funny parts but it just seemed to drag along at parts. But there were definitely some funny moments in it.
At the end of the day, it's definitely worth the extra $3 or $4.
I don't think you'll be let down . . .

I have bought the album three times. Once for me on iTunes, one for my dad, and a hard copy for myself. So why don't I deserve to see the doc? I can't believe how greedy people are on here..... If someone wants to upload it to youtube or send a download link that would be great.

I've only bought one but I'm a poor student who can't afford to go out buying deluxe albums when he already has it in standard form and didn't particularly like it the first time.

I think the documentary is a bit shit actually. There's some good info but they show so much really cool footage how could it have hurt them to put another half hour on there... why not show more of the actual recording, or more demos... the footage was there, otherwise it just goes to waste and we'll never see it. It's a nice bonus, but could have been much better without much effort... even a bit more history on how the album evolved, what songs they chose from, what they were doing with it in the break after DBTT...

What i disliked about the doc was that instead of seeing noel and the band talk, all you saw was a fucking photograph. WTF? Were the interviews stolen from some radio broadcast?
Literally a photo of Noel would be on the screen for five seconds as he talked, and then it would cut to some random (but interesting) footage of him banging a drum or something.
I always see these things as missed opportunities, because some great footage, I'm sure, has been captured. Why don't they try to make a serious documentary. Even Lord Don't slow me down had no fucking narrative.

wot surprised me was that noel admitted that he only tries the bare minimum, imagine if he tried harder
