not an elvis fan myself but people tend to prefer his early stuff as it is his most consistant

It's weird how I miss him even though I wasn't even alive when he died. He's a legend to people of all generations.

Have his 50 Greatest Hits. Can't deny his charisma and sheer vocal talents helped send what were already some of the greatest songs ever written into the stratosphere.

I have everything officially released and many bootlegs, but I gave up collecting many years ago.
Elvis' best music was anything from the 1954 Sun Sessions to 1962, then 1968-73.
I recommend the complete masters box sets (50s, 60s, & 70s) or any albums from the period mentioned above.
Just ignore the movie soundtracks.

Just ignore the movie soundtracks. some real stupid songs, ok, but also some of my favourite Elvis songs - for example: Edge of reality, Change of habbit, a little less conversation (original version) I would also recommend the gospel records - Elvis loved to sing gospel songs - was used to it from his childhood on - I'm not religious at all, but you can hear/feel in every song, what those songs meant to him |
