Whenever I hear Falling Down I just see this image of Noel on top of a mountain with his arms out and like these waves blowing with the wind and a butterfly. LOL...I just can't see that happening LOL, I know, it'd be too artistic, but then we see how brilliant TIOBI was and it's like, hey it's possible!

I think the lirycs are about an astronaut who get lost in the space. "All that I've ever know" is the Earth All fits me, excepting the line "Catch the wheel that breaks the butterfly" What does it mean? FD, their best since CS I think

Maybe the wheel means progress and the butterfly means nature.
I agree that this is the best song on DOYS. This song just hits you, and you don't even question it or second guess it.
I don't think any other Oasis songs are out of Falling Down's league, and I never thought I would say this about a new Oasis song versus the old songs.

This song gets better every time I listen to it! It's one of those long trippy ultra cool and novative Oasis songs! In the spirit of CS, AATW and Gas Panic ;D

I listened to it constantly when we first got it and absoutly loved it, must say i stopped when the album leaked because i wanted to listen to the other songs on the album, however on my way to work this morning it came on my iPod and i still loved it as much as i did when i was listening constantly.
Id say its my 2nd favorite on the album.

I wish it wasn't leaked ahead of the rest of the album. I think people would appreciate it more. Brilliant song.

I personally love it, top 3 on the record.
Interestingly, I gave DOYS to 5 non-Oasis fans, and 3 of them seperately have told me it's their favorite track.

It's about losing faith - faith in God, faith in himself, and faith in society.
"All that I've ever known" refers to the above elements, most significantly here, religion.
"If you wont save me please dont waste my time" depicts dispair
And UGHF thinks this is a positive song. What an idiot.

FD, their best since CS I think "who breaks a butterfly upon a wheel?" is a quote that is used in reference to "putting massive effort into achieving something minor or unimportant," so i guess thats what Noel means..

I agree with a couple of your points, but you don't know exactly what Noel intended or what the song is definitely 'about'.

From the Irish Times "Lyrically though, I'm proud of Falling Down on this album. You mentioned earlier that you thought it was about a comedown from drugs. That song started when I was sitting in my back garden this time last year and there was this beautiful early autumn sunset. I was thinking about all that climate-change bollocks and came to the conclusion that man really is incapable of destroying all this."But you wouldn't necessarily get that from the song. I don't do really do biography or 'issues'. I hate it when there's a song you really love and you think it's about a certain thing and then, years later, the songwriter says 'that song is about X or Y', and it's totally different to what you imagined." Whose the idiot now?
