To me this Oasis album will prove over time to be a grower on people. I mean the first time you hear the album you might not get all the songs. An example might be the Bell composed 'The Nature of Reality". One at first listen could think Bell's song's is over before it started with a simple melody. But rest assured after hearing the song again in a deep state of mind 'The Nature of Reality" is mind bendingly amazing. That guitar is f**king right there. If you know what I mean? and the lyrics are (once you learn them) profound. There's no two ways to slice it. Another example is 'soldier on' by Mr Liam Gallager. Many on first listen thought. Where's the lyrics and amazing guitar solo? But of course that persons fails to hear the amazing groove the sound first rides in on.Liam's vocal's with echoing to a very cool effect. Almost a pink floydish effect. The Na Na part has a very tranquil peaceful felling to it. As does the soldier On repeated line at the end. I mean the album starts with a very sudden strange rythym power chord strummed song 'Bag it up'.With its quick oddball lyrics hypnoticly intrancing the listner to want more. To start the album with that type of song and to end with the tranquil subtly psychedelic 'soldier on' I think that makes the album sound amazing to have that type of dynamic. But to get to my first point this album is an all time classic grower. The more people listen to this album they will pick up on all the subtle genius (and of course the not so subtle) of the all the songs running on DOYS track list. Anyway DOYS will prove to be an all time classic. Every song f**king rocks its ass off and the music takes you on a mystical journey. I quit drugs years ago too so thats shows you how good the music is!

I totally agree too, i have never believed in the phrase "a grower" i used to think if someone says that then it means its shit, but for the first time in my life i can admit to myself that this album is a grower, and the more i listen to it the more i love it
I gave it some stick when it leaked but im loving it now apart from tracks 9,10,11

I think Dig Out Your Soul is a good effort; a couple of songs that are as good as anything the band has done previously, a handful of decent if unexceptional tunes, and a couple of fillers.
I wouldn't say it's a grower though. If anything, for me, it's the opposite - I'll cane it for a few weeks and get bored of it quickly.
Same with Heathen Chemistry and Don't Believe the truth really.

I agree with the first post, it happened the same to me with the nature of reality, and as for the whole album, to me this is a classic already AND, think about it, until DOYS, oasis hadn't come up with 5 great songs in a row at the begining of an album.

AND, think about it, until DOYS, oasis hadn't come up with 5 great songs in a row at the begining of an album. Correct. But at the same time they've never had 4 average tracks in a row to close an album.

But at the same time they've never had 4 average tracks in a row to close an album. what? to be where there's life is just a great homage to George Harrison!, and the nature of reality is the most revolver-ish ( is that a word? LOL ) song there is! those 2 could be on revolver, and well, ain't got nothin' is above average, and soldier on is sadly underrated

Indeed. It only gets better with every listen. In fact, DOYS has the best first five songs on an Oasis record. Incredible.

Incredible. true, the five in a roll are all amazing... and I guess it would make seven if there wasen't GOYHHL in the middle! but how weird would be that, the best songs in a roll and the rest for the end...

I agree 100% with the original post. On first listen I thought TNOR was distinctly average, and although it clearly isn't one of the best on the album, its a real grower and I now really enjoy it Same goes for Soldier On.

i liked the immediacy of the entire album but it is really growing on me now. every song is starting to sound better.. High Horse Lady although repetitive definitely has some sort of "groove" to it and im getting into it and while i was initially disappointed with the lack of guitar on To Be Where There's Life, i am getting into it (although that song definitely needs something added to it.. doesn't fit completely with album).

Another thing to me is it makes me wanna sit down and listen to the whole album for some reason, not just a couple of the songs, etc.? It goes together well, I think overall. Madferrit!

It didn't take a lot to channel the spirit of George Harrison apparently...
Harrison went to India to learn the sitar with Ravi Shankar.
Andy Greybeard Bell bought a plastic toy, sat it on the floor, pressed "ON", twanged a string and left it to the producer. Lol.
