no one would've ever suspected it had he not mentioned it.

Is the 'taking a walk with a monkey man' lyric in reference to Noel's time with Ian Brown? Or maybe Noel just has a friend with big ears.

More likely a reference to the Rolling Stones song of the same name from Let It Bleed - since Noel put the stones in the top 3 (I forget where exactly) of his favourite bands list in a recent tour diary post.
Perhaps coincidentally, there's also a lyric on The Turning 'I'll carry the lantern' which is also Stones song title from Their Satanic Majesties... album.

Now that I think about it, the arrangement and the vocals (distorted on the verse, clear in the chorus) are very Baron Saturday like. Then again, I could just drawing straws considering I listened to Baron Saturday a million times.

I don't think they are that similar. Search for it on youtube and check it out for yourself.

no one would've ever suspected it had he not mentioned it. Exactly my thoughts. There are similarities but they are subtle.
