I can't wait till people come down off their "I'm Outta Time" high. The song is just not that great. How anyone can put it above TIOBI is ridiculous, and the mere mention of it being an Oasis classic is laughable. I can see people having mixed feelings about every track, but the overall love for IOT is extremely confusing to me.

^ Good on you, you don't like a song that most others love. Most would agree that TIOBI is better, doesn't mean that they can't praise another tune.

I say that because normally I can think "yeah i can see why people like that so much but its not my cup of tea" but IOT sounds like Liam trying to write a big ballad and sort of giving up and not finishing it. The melody isn't that great and the lyrics are Little James-ish, which is actually a more interesting song.
I'm not saying people are stupid for liking it, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if a ways down the line people aren't so big on it.
I didn't mean to come off like a dick or like i have all the right answers...i was just expecting a lot more after hearing all of the "OMG it's beautiful!" comments in reviews.

absolutely loved it. as an album i think it has a great flow and is up there with some of their best work. For me i'd say its tied for 3rd with Be Here Now. great opener, not much filler, great vocals by liam (sounds like 97). Im not a huge fan of Nature of Reality, sounds a bit forced, not andy's best at all. NOM, although i don't support it being on the album, sounds better than the demo and has grown on me a bit. But besides those two every song is fantastic. Bag It Up- 8/10 (Great Opener, love the attitude) The Turning- 10/10 (Classic.) Waiting for the Rapture- 9/10 (Fucking great) Shock of the Lightening- 8/10 (works alot better on the album then alone) Im Outta Time- 9/10 (Great Liam Tune, first line gives me a the chills) GOYHHL- 9/10 (New direction. experimental, fantastic job by noel) Falling Down- 10/10 To Be Where There is Life- 9/10 (I love the groove, i love the song. if noel had written this everyone would rate it higher. Great job by Gem) AGN- 7/10 NOR- 7/10 Soldier On- 8/10 (love the bass line carrying the tune, song is growing on me)

Bag it up:- 8/10 The turning:- 9.5/10 Waiting for the rapture:- 6.5/10 The shock of the lightning:- 9/10 Im outta time:- 7/10 Get off your high horse lady:- 6.5/10 Falling down:- 8.5/10 To be where there's life:- 8.5/10 Aint got nothin:- 7/10 The nature of reality:- 8.5/10 Soldier on 7/10
After a couple of listens I would say it's a very good album. Im outta time isn't as special as people were making out though. Can't help feeling ending it on Soldier on is a bit of a mistake on intial impressions, it's fine for the first 2 minutes and then just doesn't seem to do much.
Very impressed with the vocals from both brothers though!
Overall 8/10 at the moment for me.

Bag it up 9 - very solid best on album - up there with the early stuff - the bit where the chorus drops in - is very - a day in the life - but works brilliantly. Turning - 8 - wasn't too sure about the chorus at first - but definately a grower Waiting for the Rature - 8.5 Shock - 8.5 - not tired of it after a month outta time - 6 - overated - good chorus - weak verses and lyrics High Horse - 7 - Ok Falling - 8 - Quality tune To be where - 7.5 - Good effort - bit droning bu - some great bits too. AGN - 5 - weak by any standard. TNOR 7 - not as good as TUTS but fine and a bit different Soldier on 6.5 - nearly good - but doesn't go anywhere.
Overall 7.5 - Noel should write more and Liam less. RM and STC would have made this the third best easily.

RM and STC are so bland to me. they would fit on HC or STOTSG. really happy they aren't on here.

Yeah - STC and RM are by no means lost classics in my opinion. But are streets ahead of AGN and Soldier on.

After three listens I can't really rate the songs, because right now I am still in the phase when I think all of the songs are brilliant:)
Seriously, I think this is a brilliant album, with a new and unique sound to it, and the songs are very catchy /if somewhat depressing:)/.
For me the highlights are: Bag It Up, Waiting for the Rapture, I'm Outta Time, Falling Down, To Be Where There's Life, and Soldier On.
I like maybe Soldier On the best: a perfect way to finish the album, simple sound and lyrics but still goes and rips out your heart. /Quite the same with I'm Outta Time, although I dig Soldier On a bit more:)/
The Turning, Get Off Your High Horse Lady, and Ain't Got Nothing are also great, I haven't heard Nature Of Reality yet.
I think I like TSOTL the least:)

Bag It Up - 7/10 this song is a bit like sergeant pepper's lonely hearts club band, a good solid opener
The Turning - 8/10 - the chorus is really great...which is not really common on that album
Waiting For The Rapture - 9/10 - one of the real highlights on DOYS! sensational vocals by noel, he rarely sounded that good...the song has some beatles guitars innit...if there is one negative thing about it then i would say that it is too short...
The Shock of the Lightning - 7/10 - a bit hard to rate because i am already pretty used to it...the song starts mega, liam's voice is fantastic...but then noel should have worked on the chorus...that's why it is not that special song that it could have been.
I'm Outta Time - 10/10 - i didn't expect that...such a fresh song where everything seems to be perfect...reminds me a bit of noel g's early days as a songwriter when everything seemed to go that easily....
High Horse Lady - 5/10 - good start - but that chorus? i don't know... has noel listened to country music recently? an ok tune...
Falling Down - 7/10 - this is good stuff - but it doesn't reach part of the queue from dbtt. production of the song is top stuff, but then maybe it lacks songwriting-greatness...
To Be Where There's Life - 4/10 - groove's alright - but what's the idea of that song? boring...
Ain't Got Nothin' - 5/10 - a bit like the meaning of soul...i would't miss it if it wasn't on the album...
The Nature of Reality - 3/10 - just pointless...a bad b-side...
Soldier On - 6/10 - uses typical oasis-harmony...but that one has more potential...maybe it is again the chorus that is a missed opportunity...

Why are pl not geting soldier on. Its great Its called soldier on the music plods along like a marching soldieer as does liams vocal the repetitiveness of it makes for that marching plodding along feel. A very well realisedoeice of music I love it ...You should too...REminds me of the Gorillaz Clint Eastwood...Only good HA

1. To Be Where There's Life - Insane how Beatlesy it sounds...in a good way 2. The Turning - Wish they kept it a little softer but very original 3. Falling Down - If the Beatles made Tomorrow Never Knows in 2008 4. (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady - You guys are nuts for slacking it. Brilliantly original. Reminds me of Neil Young a little 5. The Shock of the Lightning 6. I'm Outta Time - Good but undeveloped like everything of Liam's 7. Bag It Up - I guess I just don't get "it" like most fans have 8. The Nature of Reality - Lyrics are far too short but great instrumental 9. Soldier On - Great groove, but not complete enough to close the album IMO 10. Waiting for the Rapture - How in the world could Noel not let Liam sing this? I know he can't hit those high notes but Noel's voice is so out of place on this song. His voice just can't cut through the harder songs 11. Ain't Got Nothing - Better than the demo but still nothing more than a better produced Meaning of Soul

1. Bag it up - Not your typical Oasis opener but a good song, I like it. Lay your love on the fire, i got my hibbey-giebies in a little bag - otherwise the lyrics are quite strong 7.5/10
2. The Turning - loving the drum intro, so c'mon shake your ragdoll baby, befor you change your mind more rocker but Liam keeps the same sort of vocals (pity he can't do that live ) 7.6/10 (sounds like the Beatles' Julia at the very end or something off the White album)
3. Waiting for the Rapture - First Noel sung song, i'm tired - come get me off the merry-go-round, more heavy strumming on this, a little short maybe. 7/10 nothing out of this world so far - still solid tho.
4. Shock of the Lightning - this has really grown on me. Getting that more Oasis sound in the album now. Still shudder at love is a time machie, up on the silver screen, otherwise i really like the song! 8.2/10
5. I'm Outta Time - first Liam penned song, loving the piano. Very soft song but sounds good. He's really come along lyrics wise. Sounds quite Travisy to me. Could very well be a "grower" 7.4/10
6. (Get of Your) High Horse Lady - Not the best, lyrics reming me along the lines of High Heel Sneekers. Don't have too much to say on this one. 5.3/10
7. Falling Down - Heard this a few times and liked it straight off! Album version is class also! 9/10
8. To Be Where Theres Life - Again heard this one live, good but not as good as falling down. Can see this one getting ripped by the "Oasis are just a Beatles tribute band" brigade 7.8/10
9. Ain't Got Nothin' - Heard this with the DBTT demos (was it?) and was the worst out of the 3 new songs. Opinion hasn't changed. Similar to Meaning of Soul but is very poor. 5.4/10
10. The Nature of Reality - The music is great, not too keen on the vocals though. 7.4/10
11. Soldier On - The album closer, DBTT had Let There be Love, (WTS) MG had Champagne Supernova, DM had Slide Away/Married With Children, Be Here Now had It's Getting Better Man/AATW Respise, SOTSOG has Roll it over(well Born on different cloud is the real closer for me). the second half of the song makes a good closer but unlike all the others mentioned its not a real good song. First half is up to nothing. 5.8/10
Overall it starts off greats but dies halfway through and never gets going again. Probaly the most Beatles-esque album to date, a little different but good overall. On a par with DBTT a mix between the two would be a class album.
Overall a solid 73%

first time I've posted on here for years (since '05 i think).
Let's call a spade a spade here.
this is pish.
i'll still go and see them live because that's what it is all about.
these songs though: they are a joke.
sad that it's come to this.
