The second half really blew me away, it really flows nicely, but the first half has more stand out tunes. Bag It Up, I'm Outta Time, and Falling Down are easily three of the best Oasis tunes of all time.
Andy and Gem really blew me away, I don't get the hate some of them are getting. The Nature of Reality is great, really heavy and I love the stop and go. All ready loved TBWTL from the live version, not sure which version is better though. I like the guitar bits, but the album version sits itself into a nice groove.

The Nature Of Reality is a grower, no doubt about it.

the first listen emotional swing is starting to settle down. we'll see how it goes from here. kinda realizing it doesn't have more than 1 or 2 moments of "ooo that makes me feel good". i see what Noel was saying now. prob cause it's a little darker. hasn't passed up DBTT yet(which is my #3)!

WAITING FOR THE RAPTURE - Hear all the ranges and tones of Noel's voice in this one. Pretty heavy guitar and bass line. "Better Man's" opening riff sprinkled throughout the song...great riff, solid song. 8/10 Cold Turkey anyone? I love it!

Ok, here's my first impression:
Bag It Up - 10/10 The Turning - 8/10 Waiting for the Rapture - 10/10 The Shock of the Lightning - 10/10 I'm Outta Time - 10/10 Get Off Your High Horse Lady - 8/10 Falling Down - 10/10 To Be Where There's Life - 9/10 Ain't Got Nothin' - 7/10 The Nature of Reality - 8/10 Soldier On - 7/10
Overall, a solid rock album! I'm very pleased! Welcome back, Oasis! I missed you, guys!
I still think they should have added Record Machine and Stop The Clocks to it, though. The album could have been a landmark if those two songs were on it.

i dont get whats so great about IOT. why dont we all just listen to the imagine album? its way superior with exactly the same production style. pretty much like most of all of liams other songs. i dig bag it up, the turning and GOYHHL. noel was, is, and always will be the genius behind oasis, the others are just riding his coattails.

Bag It Up - 9/10 Great opener. Liam's voice really suits this, think Sardy was right not to over produce it. The Turning - 9/10 Really catchy, this has to be a single. Waiting for the Rapture - 8/10 Good song, pisses all over Force of Nature and Mucky Fingers. The Shock of the Lightning - 9/10 Best single they've released in ages. I'm Outta Time - 10/10 Absolutely epic, best song Oasis off the last 3 albums. Get Off Your High Horse Lady - 7/10 Nice break in the album, a lot better than I was expecting it to be. Falling Down - 9/10 Some great lyrics and a really solid song. Shame this is the last Noel track on the album. To Be Where There's Life - 9/10 Really fits the album well, best song Gem's written for Oasis. Ain't Got Nothin' - 6/10 Not bad, sounds better now Liam's vocals have been cleaned up. The Nature of Reality - 4/10 Worst song on the album. I usually like Andy's songs but this sounds like it could have been on Heathen Chemistry. Soldier On - 6/10 Starts off well, doesn't really go anywhere though. A dragged out version of Stop the Clocks would have been a much better closer.

As special as SOTSOG but with better songs on it.
Moreover, the more you listen to this album, the more you realize HC and DBTT sucked big time.

Bag It Up - 9/10 Yep great opener, huge fan of this, sounds brilliant. The Turning - 7/10 Thought i would like this more from the 40 sec clip but not a huge fan. Waiting for the Rapture - 8/10 Great song by Noel and love the chorus, great song The Shock of the Lightning - 9/10 Classic single I'm Outta Time - 10/10 After hearing all the hype i didnt think i would like it much but been listening to this tons, very very very good. Get Off Your High Horse Lady - 4/10 Cant stand this, just sounds very poor, not a fan at all Falling Down - 9/10 Great song. To Be Where There's Life - 10/10 A great song, big fan of it, just sounds very different but very cool Ain't Got Nothin' - 7/10 Not as bad as i thought it would be, still not a huge fan but its okay The Nature of Reality - 8/10 I actually quite like this song, some good bits in it. Soldier On - 8/10 Bit boring and slow near the end but like this one, would be great to listen to stoned !

I'm Outta Time may be Liam's greatest vocal ever- not to mention best tune he's ever written. 10/10 for it. I could tell a classic before it was over. I just wish it was a bit longer, say like 5.30 or so, it seems too short for a masterpiece

Bag It Up - 9/10 I really liked this, it's completely different from anything else they've done.
The Turning - 10/10 Definately a return to form, found myself singing along to it after one listen.
Waiting for the Rapture - 8/10 Really weird this! Like Mucky Fingers on overdrive. The White Stripes references are spot on. I really loved the muted ending. Also reminded me of "The Fallen" by Franz Ferdinand
The Shock of the Lightning - 9/10 After first hearing this, I thought that they couldn't do much better on the album. They did.
I'm Outta Time - 8/10 Fair play to Liam, he's done it properly this time, lyrically it's brilliant, but not up there with any of Noels better stuff. I expected a big 5-6 minute flag waver with a good guitar solo, but I didn't get that. What I got was a small bit of pop perfection.
Get Off Your High Horse Lady - 8/10 Another weird effort, but I love it, it's hard to tell it's Oasis. Not much to say about it really. I thought it was like a Noel version of "Won't Let You Down"
Falling Down - 9/10 I love the lyrics and beat to this. One of Noel's best. 1. DLBIA. 2. TIOBI. 3. FD
To Be Where There's Life - 9/10 A proper head bopper which is annoyingly catchy
Ain't Got Nothin' - 8/10 Don't understand the hatred of this, oh well. I like it. You don't. So there.
The Nature of Reality - 8/10 I'm fairly certain that this is the one that tried to be "The Door's Peace Frog"
Soldier On - 8/10 Takes a few listens, but becomes brilliant once you appreciate it.

It's a really, really great album. I don't want to rate all the songs yet, but I'm really loving
Bag it Up The Turning I'm Outta Time High Horse Lady (surprising, love the vocal effect and stomp)
And after reading what everyone said about Nature of Reality I liked it a lot more than I expected. Soldier On goes on for too long.
9/10 or 10/10 for the album as a whole

Initial Reaction
Please note 10/10 means Live forever, SLide Away territory
Bag it Up- Has a kinda of walking through a pschydelic swimming pool vibe, doesn't it.....8.7/10
The Turning- Has to be a single. the verse is so ian brown (one love) it's scary. But the chorus is so damn good aswell. Class solo but drags on a bit at the end. 9.2/10
Waiting For the Rapture- The most beatlesque song noel has ever written. Mega groove, bit like a slowed down Love spreads and a normal tempo Come together. Great Vocal from Noel. The Cha Cha in the instrumental chorus is so like the strawberry fields forever version on the love album.A Favourite one for me as the clip i heard previously on it didn't give much away....9.5/10
The Shock of The Lightning- Works better in the Album,it's all been said before. More or less on a par with Bag it Up. 8.3/10
I'm Outta Time-Best Liam tune ever, however the ''i'm outta time'' bit is very grating. Still a nice break from the rockers. 9.5/10
High Horse Lady- A bold move from Noel that amazingly pays off. Like a cowboy at night playing a song on acid in the middle of the desert. For originality......9.2/10
Falling Down- Mega tune, great chorus, the arrangements just feel a second or three off. Regardless 9.8/10 The Best song in a long time
To Be Where There's Life: Not bad from Gem. THought the a middle eight was a bit bland or too samey to the verse.....7.5/10
Aint Got Nothing- Nicely reworked...sure lets give it a 7.7/10
The Nature of REality: Pretty Average, can only remember one or two lines. Poor effort from Andy. 6.5/10. THis will one where you'll have to be in the mood for. Good lyrics though.
Soldier On: This should've been a b-side. Thought there'd be something big at the end. Will have to listen to this again. 7.9/10
Overall a very solid album where Noel shows yet again that he's the chief. Liam can be hit and nearly miss but overall this album will probably be recieved as being better than than the last two attempts.
Form is temporary, class is permanent.

OK. Let's do this. Remember in the real world what 9 & 10 outta 10's really mean. Classic god-like status.
Bag it Up - Really surprised me on first listen. Took me for a right ride and Liam's voice really suited the changes in tone in the song. As far as openers go I think it has more longevity than Hindu Times but isn't a straight forward pop rocker like R & R S or Hello and is heavier and darker than TUTS. May force it's way into best opener territory (if not victory) as time goes by. 7.5/10
The Turning - Again caught me off guard, again Liam starts off quiet and clear, and launches into the nasty chorus. Noel jots down some striking lyrics and displays a strong focus on where the song should go, something missing from a lot of Oasis MK2 efforts. 7/10
Waiting for The Rapture - It's stomping rythmn and bluesy lyrics display a desire to defy convention again from Noel. A song for Noel's missus with some more end of the world lyrics. In my head, a very cynical, heavy version of Wonderwall. Much better than anticipated. 7.5/10
The Shock of the Lightning - It's all been said. Good vocals. Cracking drum solo. Quite silly lyrics. Rocking. A typical Oasis leading single. 7/10
I'm Outta Time - The production impressed me here, as did Liam's vocal work. It's a soft tender wee tune, show's Liam's gettin a bit vulnerable in older age. Still, without the Lennon sample and production, I'm not sure it's any better than GGTIA. Strangely, for a supposed classic, I've no need to hear it again. Sadly. 6.5/10
Get off you High Horse Lady - I'm a sucker for the dopey and daft tunes. Noel throws the reigns (no pun intended) off further with this one, maybe too far into cowboy territory. But in my head, it's a tune about a young Noel courting and being rejected by an older, pony handling lady on the beach, and his hate of this silly lass. It makes it fun for me. 7/10
Falling Down - We all know it well, it seems fresh after every listen. For me, it's the anti-masterplan. Dystopic (sp.). Meloncholy and a clear rejection of God's plan. Great Tune. 8.5/10
To Be Where There's Life - Gem's best tune for the band. It's really special. Possibly best on the album. Great stuff from Liam too. 8.5/10
Ain't Got Nothin' - It'll have it's fans, but for the intentions of the song, to sound nasty, heavy and violent, the cleaner production actually hinders rather than helps here. Filler. 5/10
The Nature of Reality - A complete oddity. Andy Bell said this was a very personal tune he didn't want on the album. He wasn't kidding, it's one of those 'interesting' pieces of music that while fascinating won't linger with you. 5.5/10
Soldier On - It's half of a great song. As far as closers go Oasis barely put a foot wrong. This is firmly in the bottom of the pack along with Better Man. Some nice work. Would of been great if it went somewhere or built to something more. Missed opportunity. 5.5/10
I'm totally with this album until track 9. It really displays growth from the band and wields talent and ceativity not yet seen from Noel and Co. Unfortunately the poor finish diminishes the great work done by the first 2/3's of the record.
Overall an impressive return, and there is a handful of potential singles on this one. Very pleased overall, but glad that Noel is talking Solo album again now that it seems he's really hit the ground running with the writing again.
Overall 7/10 (keep in mind 9's and 10's are Def Maybe territory)
