First let me say this album is going to be huge. I love everything about it so far and I think it has the best artwork that the band have ever done and I love the singles artwork tying into the album theme, just like when they did for SOTSOG.
Now am I the only one that feels like "The Turning" should actually be called "Waiting for the Rapture", and "Waiting for the Rapture" should be called The Turning"? I know in "The Turning" there is a lyric that says "the turning" but the chorus of the song talks about the rapture and that is repeated more than the turning line. I don't know what the lyrics are for "Waiting for the Rapture" but with referances to Merry-Go-Round, I just feel like "The Turning" fits better as the title to that song. Maybe it's just me but I keep confusing myself to what song im listening to when I play the clips. Also this morning I kind of noticed when listening to the clip of the slow alternate version of "The Turning" sung by noel that the verse melody kind of sounds like the verse melody of Peggy Lee's "Fever":
never know how much i love you never know how much i care when you put your arms around me I give you fever that's so hard to bare
Anyhow. Thoughts everyone?

This was bugging me for a while, the "No hope for the journey" bit reminded me of something but I couldn't put my finger on it. I thought it was The Stone Roses One Love where Ian Briown sings "I'm no dog I'm a dolphin" but t does sound a bit like Fever as well.

Christ the way some people analyse these songs etc is sooo over the top. Just listen and enjoy it ! What next...
"Has anyone else noticed that in the 7th line of 'The Turning' Noels written a lyric with the word 'because'. Pretty similar to a 1967 song by the Mamas and Papas as their song also has the word 'because'. Cant Noel write original songs ?.
Its like Oasis trainspotters round here sometimes !

More of a concern is he has stolen it from The Beatles song "Because", And he has used the word "Love" in many of his songs. If the press get onto this, the "Oasis is a Beatles cover band" brigade will be out in full force

Has nothing to do with too much free time, when I first heard the samples, I asked my buddy if the tracks were the same for him because I was confused as hell when I listened to The Turning. I almost went and swapped the titles. So, I am with you Oasis21, shit on these fuckers trying to be smart asses, fuck em.

The original poster is 100% correct.
How many fucking Oasis songs have "the rapture" in their lyrics? Only one that I've heard... and it's called "The Turning".
It's weird to have one song that mentions "the rapture" ove and over, then follow that song with a song called "Waiting for the Rapture".
Sort of like having the lyric "Don't Look Back In Anger" repeated 15 times in "Wonderwall".

I was thinking the exact same thing, I thought it was mislabeled.
Why do people get so uptight, if you don't like the post then don't read it, simple as that. I don't give a fuck about half the posts on here, but I just don't read them...

I don't give a fuck about half the posts on here, but I just don't read them... Yeh. This board is full of knobs. There are tons of posts in this forum about some meaningless stupid stuff and then i make a post pointing out something that is kind of interesting that nobody really has mentioned and all the a-holes come out of the woods. And for the sweet cheeks guy, i used fuck because there's no need for snide or retarded comments when i was making a valid point. Who gives a fuck about half the stupid shit around here, still people post it. Theres been way more moronic shit posted over the years then my valid comment. I know what the name of the song is. I was saying it seemed to make more sense for the two names to be switched around.

Robo and Polska thanks for seeing what i was getting at and everyone else can go fuck off. so you and anyone agreeing with you can have your opinion but others can't??? Columbia Gas Panic The Importance of Being Idle The Hindu Times just some in a line of Oasis songs with names baring little or no relevance to the songs actual lyrics. It's not a new thing for Oasis.

Columbia Gas Panic The Importance of Being Idle The Hindu Times just some in a line of Oasis songs with names baring little or no relevance to the songs actual lyrics. It's not a new thing for Oasis. that's not the point he's trying to make the fact is, "The Turning" features the words "C'mon, when the rapture takes me, will you be by my side" as previously stated, Oasis has never mentioned the rapture before in their lyrics, so it seems odd that they have a song with the word "Rapture" in the lyrics... and then the song following it is called "Waiting for the Rapture", yet doesnt contain the words rapture in the lyrics as far as we know....
