OK, lets get one thing straight here. I believe that DM and Morning Glory are untouchable records that nobody today could replicate. If Dig Out Your Soul emerges as the third best Oasis album - then I'll be a very very happy guy.
Considering the positive reviews from the media and the hype surrounding it compared to Oasis last few albums (DOYS is easily the most hyped up Oasis album since Be Here Now), then I think it's a definite possibility that critics will be declaring this as work that sits finely beside those first two albums.
What do you think about it? Is it wishful thinking or a real possibility?

its a real possibility, of course id have to hear the whole songs to decide, but if i like the songs as much as i like Be Here Now, it will push ahead of it on my list making it the 3rd best Oasis album. It will be a shorter, better produced, better written album but in the same style of be here now, it will be better than BHN

DOYS is already the best Oasis album yet. The only weak track (Aint Got Nothing) is better than anything off DM and Morning Glory.

Judging by the clips the songs are really good - except for Aint Got Nothing. I can see myself enjoying this album equally as much as DM and Morning Glory.

I can see myself enjoying it too because its fresh but you said Aint Got Nothing is better than everything off DM and MG.

What do you think about it? Is it wishful thinking or a real possibility? It is wishful thinking (People claimed that HC and DBTT was Oasis best work too when those were released). I had hopes that it could beat BHN after TSOTL, Falling Down and Outta Time clip but the other songs turned out to be different. 1. DM 2. WTSMG 3. BHN ---------------------- 4. SOTSOG 5. DOYS --------------------- 6. HC 7. DBTT It might get past SOTSOG though. I need to hear the ful thing to make a judgemenbt on that but it will never beat BHN.

I hear this about every album since Be Here Now. I believe Oasis is the top band of our generation. However, if this album doesn't have a couple great songs it will be just another post WTSMG album.

Everyone needs to take WTSMG off it's pedestal. Yes it's a fantastic album, but it can be beaten.

and DM was probably one of the best albums anyone well ever hear in their lifetime. its one of those special albums that not only has amazing songs, but is also more than the sum of its parts. its a terrific record.
MG is also one of the best albums ive ever heard. it also has amazing songs, but the songs don't really fit together for a record. if noel had the choice of choosing the songs today, im sure half the tracks wouldn't have made the album.

DM MG -- BHN DOYS (perhaps above BHN even, we'll see) DBTT -- SOTSOG HC
This is Oasis third era, if you will
1994-1999: Glory Years, Brit Pop, Biggest Band in the World
--> DM, MG, BHN
2000-2004: Uninspired, somewhat lazy, instability (band changes, stopping drugs, married/divorced etc)
--> SOTSOG, HC
2005-Present: Ressurgence, matured, focused, passionate, "back in the fire"
--> DBTT, DOYS -----
DBTT was a real turning point. If that album was utter shit, it would have been the nail in the coffin, but the media liked it so Oasis lives on!
