are ya saying this because of the success of wonderwall, or something? you can say that the song cant be as popular as wonderwall. but good as wonderwall it HAS to be, because every album has lot of songs better than wonderwall. be realistic. popularity doesnt mean quality where the fuck did he say popularity means quality? he was talking us being lucky if it was as good in quality as pre-BHN stuff. hhaahaha well.. if it be like digsys dinner we are in the shit but if it be like go let it out, we are in heaven get my point he said that we are lucky if it will be like somthing pre-BHN but wonderwall is worse than 7 BHN songs, or more doesnt make any sense

Just by how it has been reviewed and talked up as Liam's best yet. Maybe it is BWTB under a new name!

champagne supernova is a fucking good song dont look back in anger too wonderwall is a normal song. a classic. but.. sure.. it isnt an AMAZING FUCKING song at all
scyho beats wonderwall, i.e. . but someone allways has to say that oasis in pre-bhn era were invincible. yeah the song were amazing. they used to be the biggest rocknroll band in the world around 97.. but they have been doing songs that are better than some songs in that era.
face it

i agree with him. oasis pre-bhn were, of course, incredible, but there is a myth about that era. now they are still amazing but no more myth. just a down to earth rock 'n' roll band. the proof is in the pudding: make a mix of old and new for someone whose never heard of oasis and they will like both.

It is almost funny to see how overrated DBTT are among some Oasisfans. Dont vclaim that 2-3 songs on DBTT are better than Wonderwall. What a joke. Infact I think DBTT is embarrassing bad as an album. It is saved by a few decent tracks (GGTIA, Lyla, LTBL) but some of the work on it is so bad that any amateurband would do it better. LILAB, ABWR, TUTS and MOS is a pain to go through. They sound like they are recorded live with an amateur recorder. you are a bit out of tune I think, and if you liked Let there be Love, is a fact... something polite I can tell you is that I disagree with you

DBTT was a very good album:
Had some of the best work the band has ever done: POTQ, TIOBI
Some great pop tunes, albeit Oasis-by-numbers: Lyla, LLAB, KTDA
Some average tunes, but better than the filler on the previous 2 albums (FON, HIABP, LJ): MOS, TUTS
And only 2 bad tunes, and they arent THAT bad: LTBL (they really fucked up what could have been a classic), ABWR
A very very solid album. --------- I agree with what Leo is saying, and theuperthonic summed it up best.
Yes, Oasis dipped with SOTSOG and espcially HC, but there are ALOT of tunes on those 2 albums, as well as on DBTT, which stand up easily to anything done in the 90s.
Song Bird, Little By Little (I know ppl hate this song, but it's quality I feel), SCYHO, TIOBI, POTQ (amazing song), Lyla (like Roll With It), KTDA (like Stand By Me), WDIAGW, Gas Panic....hell, you can even lump BOADC, and GLIO there
If you don't notice that these tunes (at least the majority of them) don't stand up to the stuff on WTSMG and BHN, it's due to the fact that the "magic", ie the press coverage, is no longer there. Thankfully, the tunes still are though.

Probably wont reach Wonderwall's level of popularity, but everything that's been said about it has been very positive not to mention it's the second single.

Thankfully, the tunes still are though. I agree that there are songs on DBTT(and HC) that are melodically nice. However that is not enough. The main problem for Oasis since BHN is that they haven found a great sound and that Liams voice is not what it was. SOTSOG was very experimental and was trying to sound more modern with allot of effects but for most of the time the experiments were not good. The exception is Fuckin In The Bushes which really is a strong track. On HC and DBTT the Oasissound have been bad to be honest. Especially on DBTT. Instead of improve beatles with becoming a modern band they instead tried to go the other way. Making it sound like it was released before Beatles during the 30'-s or something. Therefor we have this sound which sound like it is recorded live with an amateur recorder. I cant give such album good grades although some of the melodies actually are pretty nice. Another major problem for Oasis is Liams voice. You cant compare any of his vocals on DBTT to what he did during WTSMG and BHN. During those years he was (and I still claim so) the best rock singer in the world. Now I would have to say that he is very average. Liam could turn an average song out to something amazing just with the help oif his voice. Now he more often takes a good song and make it less good. The problem with Oasis 'homerecorder-sound' is that it gives Liam absolutely no help covering his voice problems. If they would have added more reverb to it like they did during the early days then he would sound allot better but instead they have this idea that it should sound as simple as possible. An idea which makes his voice sound much worse than it actually is. I read about DOYS: "We haven't done that since Be Here Now. I'd like to get, like, a 100-piece orchestra and choirs and all that stuff. I think since Standing on the Shoulder of Giants we've been trying to prove a point of just bass, drums, guitar and vocals and nothing fancy. But I kind of like fancy! I'd like to make an absolutely fucking colossal album. You know? Like literally two orchestras, stuff like that."[3] This sounds very good and if it is true it definitely is a step towards a sound that sound like it is not recorded live with an amateur recorder. From what we have heard from TSOL Liam is also getting much more help this time to covering his voice problems. He actually sound pretty nice on it. Although you cant compare it to the early days it sounds heck of alot better than his voice on LLAB, TUTS, MOS and the other tracks where they try to prove a point making it as simple as possible.

If by the 30s you mean mid-60s, then yeah that's what DBTT sounds like. British 60s music like The Kinks and Revolver-era Beatles.

DJ, if you think the album is stripped down and sounds like the 60s (your 30s claim was a HUGE exaggeration) then you're right, because that's what the bands intentions were, and therefore the album was a success. You may not like the style they went with, but it doesn't make the album bad. To me, "bad" means failing to achieve what you intended. Take, for example, the new Coldplay album (this time im not doing this to wind up Supersonic, its a legit point). They tried a new style of 2 tracks in 1 which failed, thus the album is seen to be dissapointing. If Noel wanted DBTT to be loud and big like BHN and ended up with a stripped down sound as such, then it would be bad considering he failed to meet the expectations and objectives. Frankly speaking, DBTT turned out exactly the way Oasis - and dare I say the majority of the fans - wanted it to.

I know Noel wanted it to sound 60's and I think it does. I think that Beatles sometimes sound more modern than Oasis later work though. Thats why I wrote as I did + that I am frustrated. I dont think the majority of the Oasisfans want this HC/DBTT sound. Maybe some of the fans they have gathered during later years do but not the fans that have liked them since the 90's. The HC/DBTT albums are also rated very low compared to the early work among fans. I am pretty sure that most of the fans would be very happy if DOYS would have a sound more like WTSMG, BHN or Definitely Maybe.

I am pretty sure that most of the fans would be very happy if DOYS would have a sound more like WTSMG, BHN or Definitely Maybe. Agreed. Oasis is all about the big sound and guitar solos. But my last point about DBTT turning out how the fans wanted - I basically mean "how the fans expected." Taking into account Noels interviews previewing DBTT, we all knew that it wasn't going to be a bloated sound like BHN or energy filled like DM, or anthem filled like WTSMG.....that's why I'm not dissapointed. DBTT turned out exactly how I expected it to. Contrast that with what we know about DOYS. For months now we've been reading various reports that DOYS will be heavy, trance like, similar to Columbia and Supersonic like tunes, loud, etc....So going by that we can expect a return to the DM/BHN sound (but hopefully keeping the lyrical quality of DBTT). Also, I think it's good that DBTT wasn't loud (even though I prefer Oasis to be loud), only because it was fresh and original. Imagine if all 6 or 7 albums were in the same vain as BHN - seems like a good idea at first, but think about it further - who would want 6+ albums sounding the exact same? Would get boring and predictable. DBTT was good for what it was, let's hope DOYS brings back the Oasis we fell in love with though.
