Slide Away is regarded to the ''one for the fans'' ie a really great song which only people who've bought the album would've heard of. Andy Bell talks about it on the DM dvd . It's frustrating knowing all these great songs when no one else does blimey, how big do you want them? i would say they are pretty bloody massive. |

Was Don't Go Away not a single in the UK? Cause many here have mentioned it wasn't a single and should have been. Well it definately was a fan favourite here in Canada, it was a great 2nd single in the early winter of 1997.

Noel mentioned in the DM DVD that Slide Away is even more special because it's "not a single" and "you need something like that for the fans" Look, I really don't give a shit anymore about Oasis' worldwide popularity. Why? Because they ARE THE BIGGEST BAND (along with U2) and BIGGER THAN COLDPLAY (no matter what that fool Supersonic thinks) in the world, and have been since the 90s. The only place where they aren't THAT big is the US, but they're still pretty damn big there too (WTS did incredibly well, DBTT reached #12, and I bet that DOYS will crack the top 10). Slide Away being a single wouldn't have changed anything. What matters is what I, and I alone think. Fuck you, fuck the critics, fuck Supersonic and his unusual hard-on for Coldplay. Oh, and fuck yet another shite thread by you. Furthermore, almost everything off of DM could have been a single, where do you draw the line? Just chill man why are you so irate? You mention Supersonic's 'hard on' for Coldplay; he probably just likes them. Why the fuck do you hate them so much? |

I dont see why they havent already released it like they did with the masterplan and aqcuiesce last year? They should most definietly release it at some point because it would sell like hot cakes...

I know this may seem blasphemous but I have always liked Slide Away more than Live Forever, grant it Slide Away is my favorite song ever. It's by far my favorite vocal by Liam and the hook is so damn catchy. It would've been a massive single but I feel Oasis fans understand how great of a song it is. And as long as we enjoy it I don't think it matters if it receives praise from casual music fans.

Just chill man why are you so irate? He's upset because he doesn't like people disagreeing with him, and criticises - or rather, insults - anyone who dares to do so. He's a petty, hypocritical, arrogant fanboy, who is so wrapped up in his own sense of self that he doesn't realise the irony in: a) calling other people's threads 'pointless'. b) acting like some kind of authority on 'right' and 'wrong', despite having been proven wrong by a number of people, on a number of occasions, on a number of different subjects. c) labelling me a Coldplay worshipper, when it's fairly evident that he'd bend over and touch his toes if he ever came within ten feet of a Gallagher brother. |

Well. It could have been a 5th single but Noel refused. I agree but, I think over Oasis would have been bigger had Slide Away been a single over Cigarettes and Alcohol or Shakermaker, not to take anything from those 2. But if that album could only be 4 singles... Rock N Roll Star Supersonic Live Forever Slide Away Fuckin epic right there. absolutely agree w/ the choice of songs as singles but itd prolly be in the order of: Supersonic Rock n Roll Star Live Forever Slide Away I never really fell in love w/ Shakermaker... its an alright song, but a really odd choice as a 2nd single. Im surprised Cigs and Alc charted higher than the other singles though... seems like that one wouldnt be as "radio-friendly". dead on mate |

Drop Shakermaker and slide Slide Away in it's place Well, it doesn't matter at this point because that album made them huge. But, if you're wondering whether Slide Away would have more notoriety if it was a single, it fucking definitely would. To, it could a replaced Shakermaker, as I think that's the weakest track on DM by far. |
