I dont know why people think so strongly that TSOTL will leak in the first place.
It is rare that singles leak before their first radio play. No, it's not an impossibility, but the chance of it happening is a lot slimmer than anyone realizes.
The album is a given to leak because of manufacturing and all the details involved in the mass production of an album. For a single to leak before a radio play is almost a feat these days. Its never happened with Oasis before.
Outside of a rogue station breaking the Aug 15 date, the chance of TSOTL leaking is very very slim. Its not impossible, but I wouldnt hold my breath.

Radio get TSOTL on the 10th and it will leak on the 10th. Pure guessing games. If radio does get it on the 10th, some employee has to break an embargo personally to get it out there. It's by no means a given, especially when most radio station managers are the ones responsible for receiving new material like this and a lot of them put it under lock and key until programming time. More likely than not, we're waiting until the 15th. Anybody: Name the last time a high profile acts single LEAKED before the first radio play date. Not played on a rogue radio station or given for free on the bands own website, but leaked onto the internet.

it depends of the radio station... I was playing on itune "Galvanize" (the first single from the chemical brothers album : Push the Button) one week before the airplay launching date when I worked at a cool alternative french/switzerland radio in Lyon, and the same for a lot of new singles...
Absolutly no security rules were respected... just a deal and no one there uploaded the new songs on internet... It was in 2005... it could be different now... maybe...

i remember when D'you Know What I Mean was first played on radio 1. They got authorisation to play it earlier then they said because some station had got a copy and were threatening to play it early. Jo Whiley show i think played it first

Jo Whiley show i think played it first Theres nothing new with this. THT was played early. Lyla was played early by a Polish radio station. TSOTL could very well be played early, but a leak? Not going to happen most likely. The Polish radio station had permission from Sony. DYKWIM they had permission. Not sure about THT. Yea, but you worked there. Its one thing if you're an employee, its another thing entirely to put it out onto the internet. Im sure theres people that have the album already that work for the label or what not.

i guess a radio will play it between the 12th and the 14th, just to be the first one, and so that everyone talks about them .... advertising their radio

What's a leak anyway? You mean the FIRST time a song's played, (usually on the radio)?
The idea that EVERYTHING leaks is absurd. Ask the NEW biggest band in the world: Coldplays Viva la Vida didn't LEAK shit. They made it available a week before on their website. Some media tried to imply otherwise, but sources inside the band dsaid they decided to do it months before. Huge distinction.
Besides, a week or ten days early is meaningless anyway, as its no different than thousands of cd's squeaking out to the public early ten years ago. Ylou can't completely control where millions of hardcopies end up.
Shit happens with mass production. Springsteen, Death Cab For Cutie, Foo Fighters etc. NONE of their last releases leaked before their official release.
If it happens, it happens, but I for one would be surprised if any joe-schmoe had a copy before the last week of September.

Viva La Vida did leak, The latest foo fighters album did as it was on many torrent websites Again, Viva did not...unless you consider Coldplay making it avail on their own website a "leak". Even then, it was six days before its offical releaase. Whoopty do. Ditto for the Foo I think it was three days. After the discs are in production, all bets are off. I'd all but guarantee you won't be able to sniff a copy of DOYS for at least another 5 weeks.

Obviously we wont get the full album untill maybe the 1st of october Dont take a genious to work that one out we must have a lot of "non-geniouses" lurking about then, causs it seems many here think we'll have it (or at least a fewtunes off it) within a couple of weeks. not happening people. I'll be overjoyed with the "shock" til october.

Even then, it was six days before its offical releaase. Whoopty do. Ditto for the Foo I think it was three days. After the discs are in production, all bets are off. I'd all but guarantee you won't be able to sniff a copy of DOYS for at least another 5 weeks. You're confusing things. They gave away Violet Hill. There is also a song called Viva La Vida that the album is also called. I agree with you about DOYS. Its going to be a while before its out in full. Violet Hill was released on their website for free, as advertised. Viva La Vida (the SONG, not the album) was released to people if you preordered the album via Itunes. If you preordered the album in full (the day after they released Violet Hill), they gave you that track right away. The album VIVA LA VIDA and the DEATH OF ALL THE FRIENDS (or whatever its called) leaked in full, as an album, 16 days before official release (I checked). Various other songs from the album leaked in very poor quality for a few days prior but not in full. In fact, the first place the album leaked in full and the same bitrate was on a Justin Timberlake fan forum lol. A leak is traditionally defined as an illegal release of something before its official date of release, so you're right, Violet Hill didnt leak as the band gave it away, Viva La Vida (the song) didnt leak (although it was shared illegally) as they allowed it to be given as a promotion for preordering the album on Itunes, but the album most certainly did leak. In the case of TSOTL, its not even due out until Sept, but radio play is Aug 15. The chance of that song leaking prior to the first radio play is very slim, simply because its hardly going to be mass produced the way an album is.
