I finally bought Def Maybe a week ago (i understand if u think i'm a noob for waiting so long to buy the album, since i just became a avid Oasis fan) and I realized how solid every track was including Columbia. It seems to me that this song isn't played enough at concerts and doesn't get the recognition of being one of their best songs. Would u include Columbia in a top 10 or 20 list of the best oasis tunes.

Anyone that doesnt include Columbia is an idiot IMO in fact, I think you'll find most people include it in a list reaching 20 for sure.
They played the song fairly regularly live all through 94 and part of 95, took a break from it in 96-2000, and it saw another renaissance during the Brotherly Love and HC tours. Going by this, I imagine its back this time around.

Amongst Oasis fans, Columbia is ranked pretty high I think. Not so much amongst the general population. It's not really a song that the public can handle since it isn't a love song, and doesn't have a 15 year old girl singing it. And I think the reason it's not played at concerts is because Liam can't sing it, but I'm not completely sure.

It's great at a gig or night out or whatever but it gets boring listening to it on its own after a while. Good song but not my fave.

I remember seeing a video of Oasis at Glastonbury 2004 and Liam could hardly hit any of the high notes, (not including the chorus) which did ruin the song.

Columbia is a great tune, agree with you about the glasto version though - liam really couldnt handle it. If the shock of the lightning clip was anything to go by then he might be able to sing it again - and then maybe - just maybe he can do slide away again!!

Great riffs and grooves... And Liam should not have any problem singing this one whatsoever because it's in a very low register for him vocally. Even with his new 'kermit' voice he can still do it. Noel's the one who does the high, falsetto parts in the chorus, Liam stays in the low register.

top 10 for sure for me... maybe top 5 or 6. anyone that hasn't heard the version off the Songbird single should get a hold of it.

Easily top ten, but not quite top five. It's really easy to play too.

it's one of those rare tracks that sounds amazing on the album, in demo form, AND live. and all three versions are different enough to enjoy in their own separate ways. it's truly a genius track. three fucking chords round and round and round and they pull it off. only oasis, ladies and gents, only oasis...

liams melody is very low in the register, you're right, this song is easy
maybe what you were hearing on the Glasto version was a struggling for air? slightly out of breath? which was causing him to mess up and gasp for the notes, but those notes are not hard to hit by themselves!
he should be able to sing it all tour no problem, if he breathes a little better, imo
