What are the odds that oasis will change up their set list night after night on this tour?
I think its time! Seven albums! Fourteen years!
I don't care if Liam and Noel use teleprompters, when you have that many songs it's ok! Bruce Springsteen does, so do the Stones and Elton John!
Change 'em up! I don't wanna know the whole tour after the first show!

no chance... maybe they'll swap around a couple of tunes, but at least 90% of the setlist will be the same for the whole tour. If they take a break between legs maybe they can cahnge it a bit but I doubt it will happen

I applaud your enthusiasm, and while I agree with you on this matter I cannot forsee Oasis making drastic setlist changes night-to-night.
Cheers!

I would love to go to a show, not knowing anything...love to have us setlist watch on here...love to see people in the stands holding up signs, and Noel points at one, and they do it next!
Whatever, Columbia, My Big Mouth! It'd be great.

Hears hoping they decide to be spontaneous! Apparantly Liam has to relearn all the words for most of the songs though...but I generally like it when he add libs, who can forget the immortal 'I dont really wanna know, how you pick your nose...'

Not likely... i remember Noel was asked about this (or something similar) and he explained how he wouldn't want to dissapoint fans by (example:)not including wonderwall one night and playing it the other. its sort of a "being fair" thing. I personally would love to see different setlists.

They won't Noel's against the idea (I'm pretty sure he made fun of himself for doing that years ago, in an interview)
It doesn't make sense, and wouldn't be fair to the fans - people in London would get a different set list to those in Manchester, who would get a different set list to those in Philly, etc etc

It doesn't make sense, and wouldn't be fair to the fans - people in London would get a different set list to those in Manchester, who would get a different set list to those in Philly, etc etc Of course it makes sense. Oasis have been around long enough they dont have to resort (because thats what they're doing, resorting) to playing the same old shit every single night. They have a catalogue that dwarfs many bands and rarely do they do anything against the grain. In a lot of people's minds, they are one of the safest bands on the planet in terms of risk taking. Its almost as if they're afraid to change it up. Fair lol, its not about fair. Thats the beauty of going to concerts where bands actually make an effort to change up the setlist. You don't know what you're going to get, and comparing your setlist to another fan in another town is a lot of fun and gives you something to look forward to. "Ooh I hope we get that song too!" and then you get something completely different. As a fan of Oasis, I generally look at the setlist to see whats coming, and 9/10 times by the time my show comes around, I can almost check off the entire setlist in my head. They leave no room for surprises, which is a critical part of a concert experience. One of the biggest knocks against this band is they are so set in their ways. The same setlists night after night get boring, especially for people that go to multiple shows or collect bootlegs, and in Oasis' case, thats quite a few people. Sure, if you're a casual fan or only go to one show, it matters less, but still its not a fair/unfair argument.

Depends on your point of view, really. I went to see... whisper it... Radiohead recently, and actually quite enjoyed that they changed up the setlist. It makes things interesting. It will never happen though - for one thing they are hamstrung by what songs Liam can manage to sing these days.

Was that you poking holes in all my garden gnomes? I was wondering 'bout that...
I went to a Stones show in '97 when I was in college and one of the coolest things was that they let fans go online and vote for a song from a list of 10 or 15. During the show, Mick would turn to the screen and someone offstage would navigate to the site and show which song the fans had voted for them to play, and then the band would launch into it.
The song for the show I was at was 'Under My Thumb'

It completely depends on the setlist! You picked out three of Oasis' greatest tunes and replaced them with three not as good ones. What if they played Supersonic, Live Forever, and Stay Young, and the next night played Listen Up, Columbia and Slide Away in lieu of the other three? I would never expect Oasis to replace Wonderwall in the setlist with fucking She Is Love. No band overhauls things completely anyway except for bands with fans that follow them constantly which Oasis dont have many of. A change here and there, maybe even a running order change can greatly enhance the way an audience perceives a show, especially for those of us who attend multiple shows, which these days is quite more than anyone realizes. Its hardly much to ask for the occasional surprise live, which by the 4th show on the tour, anyone that follows the band knows exactly what they're going to be fed 2 or 3 months down the line on that tour. They have a catalogue of at least 120 songs, but play about 20-25 per tour. Some of those 20 have never left the setlist and some of these songs have never been played live. Can anyone name a show where Cigs and Alcohol wasn't played, or Wonderwall (at least since its release) or DLBIA? They have enough quality songs to change it up, even a little bit. Theres also the matter of Liam not willing to sing certain songs anymore and those type of issues, but theres plenty of wiggle room to allow for some variety on the setlists. Its one thing if its your first time seeing the band, its another when you're up to 9-10-11 and so on in terms of shows you've been to. Its not going to stop me from going to the shows, but the lack of any sort of variety has LONG been a complaint of Oasis fans. You watch, they're doing Q&A sessions again for this record really soon, they'll get asked the "setlist question" as they do every time.

I'll be a happy man if they play at least 7 songs from the new album. Probably won't happen but I'm hoping that this will be the case. I hope they change it up a lot (have every single song off DOYS played live at least once) but that probably won't happen either...
This tour is for DOYS, so they should play at least 7 songs off the album they are trying to promote. It would be really bad to see Oasis release a new album, then only play 3-4 songs off it and then just play the hits. That would be shit. Every tour would be a greatest hits tour.

Well they did play 7 from DBTT. I dont think they did all on the same show ever, but it was usually 5-6. Its pretty wishful thinking for the whole thing. I think the only album they've ever played live in its entirety is DM. Every other album has a song or two thats never been played live.

A band I like did a novel think a couple of years ago and had a poll set up on their official message board listing every single song they've ever done (Except the hits that were likely to be played in the setlist) and all the fans and users of the message board voted for which song they would most like to hear live. The top 12 voted songs were then put into a list and at each gig the band would pick 4 of these songs to play in a 'Lost Gems' slot before the encore. It was a great idea and it meant I got to hear plenty of songs I would otherwise have had no chance of hearing.

It's all relative. Don't hawk the set-lists of other shows you're not even attending and it WILL be a complete surprise.
Pretty straightforward, really.
