What do you think if Oasis never release Stop the Clocks, but have the last song of the last album Record Machine with the line "Stop the clocks and turn the world around" still in it at the end?
Yeah, it would annoy a lot of us as they would never release a good version of STC - until 30 years later or something - but at the same time it would be rather cool....I don't know, it's a bit hard to explain but I'm sure you get the idea....it would just leave us all wondering (less so now bc the demo leaked, but still)
I think, in it's own twisted way, it would be the perfect send off. Plus, at least we would get the beefed up version of Record Machine, which we all desperately want!
What do you reckon? Do you think Noel would do something like this?

going nowhere is not your typical acoustic noel sung tunes. it has a burt bacharach feel with horns and strings unlike most of the striped down just acoustic songs with guitar and stuff

where did i say going nowhere was an acoustic song? i just said that STC is nothing more then another noel acoustic songs. if going nowhere was touted as the greatest song ever and then leaked like STC all i am saying is it would have lived up to the hype better b/c there is something to it.

Record Machine has potential. But for me, Stop The Clocks for me has such better lyrics and melody, awesome..awesome song.

Something about RM always felt very amateur for me... the way it was recorded i mean. After the drums pick up it got better, but the acoustic guitar in the start sounded awful i thought (not the song itself, i loved it). It sounded like something i would have recorded in my basement with garage band.
STC, on the other hand, feels very polished and complete for me, especially the end solo

STC has the better lyrics, but RM has the better sound -- and for that, RM has the more potential for me, that sound is HUGE. It would be a damn shame if Noel didn't improve and release both. It wouldn't take that much work either - make STC electric, and re-write the words to RM and make it longer (more guitar solos). Not too hard. Really.

I think you spend too much time contemplating such matters. This Oasis obsession is both strange and unhealthy, and I'd suggest you ought to be analysed by a trained psychologist.

Look around you, 99% of the people on this forum are just as obsessed. Maybe you should get yourself checked out to see why you spend time on an Oasis forum if you don't care about the band as much.

RM I thought was saved from being a very mediocre song by the epic DM-like Middle Eight. The chorus is very DBTT (ie good but forgettable)ish. STC...it's not a song you can play any time on your mp3 player, but i was listening to it there, and when you strip away all the hype, it really is a great song as long as there is emotional input from your side. The noel tremello is mega!
That said I'd prefer RM on the album due to it's potential. As I've said before it's supposedly a groove album and what better way to end it than with 'i wanna live in a dream....

People who think RM is better than STC are insane. Record Machine is a boring Noel Gallagher-by-numbers pseudo-anthem. I could've written that fucking song.
Stop The Clocks on the other hand, is great.

Lionsden and Supersonic1983....why dont you just fuck off L.4.E.'s back? I'm sick of you useless twats constantly bullying him. Why dont you get a life. Its only a fucking forum for god's sake! If you dont like what he has to say don't read his threads! I happen to prefer his extensive posts to your posts which usually only consist of "its shit...yeah...shit...bollocks". Everyone's allowed an opinion

Ah Going Nowhere is a tune like!! Great song for a grey cloudy day Ya know what pisses me off about that song...It's got a great guitar solo but it's so low in the freaking mix that you could hardly hear it. That tremendous BHN production
