Well there was a lot of criticism for that thread about the least favourite songs (which just goes to show that Oasis fans are not blind worshippers and do actually have opinions, something a lot of people are unfortunately not aware of) so I thought to be fair we should all list 3 songs that we think are overlooked as "true classics". I prefer it if we avoided songs written by anyone by Noel as it will just boil down to whether thats a good thing or not. And I dont want ANOTHER arguement about it. So lets stick to Noel songs shall we? I chose 3 coz i couldnt be arsed doing 5. Oh and please be as controversial as possible!
1. Bonehead's Bank Holiday
No, seriously please keep reading! For some reason I just love thi song. I think the melody is great but I think Im especially attracted to the sheer personality and humour revealed in this song. Its stupid, but thats the point its a JOKE. Its from the same vein as Yellow Submarine or when Nirvana performed "My Sharona" live (which is fucking awesome btw). In a world of faceless pop stars, thank god for the gallaghers!
2. Shakermaker
Now I have seldom heard this song mentioned on this forum except in brief passing and I think thats a shame. Yes its a strap on 12 bar blues and the lyrics make no sense whatsoeve but it all makes the song sound rather 'avant-garde' and it still hums with a fresh vibe even today. Though does a second single count as overlooked?
3. Let There Be Love
For christs sakes what is wrong with you people? All these comments abut how this song is terrible. Do you have ears? This song to me is insumountable proof that Noel Gallgher's talent is still as potent as ever. Its the Oasis hymn of the Noughties, the brothers ballad that stands next their rockin' Acquiesce. (okay a slight exaggeration I know but I dont understand why no one raves about this song, I think it represents all the best parts of Oasis that I love)
Anyway, disagree with me as much as you want!

Agreed on Shakermaker and Let There Be Love. Maybe it's just me, but I don't see any talk of Listen Up, and I love that song.

I completely agree withyour comments about Bonehead's Bank Holiday, that song's got a lot of character and humor. I know I'll hear it for this but I love Digsy's Dinner, especially the demo version! Alright the lyrics are a bit ridiculous but it tells a funny tale and the demo is toned down a bit. Also Liam's vocals are spot on. Listen to him sing "lasagne" at the end.

Listen up is a stomper too! I don't think Shakermaker is that overlooked because it's brilliant. I think Bring it on Down could be mentioned in the same vein.

Born on a Different Cloud
Be Here Now
Gas Panic!
and Its Good to be Free for honorable mention
and I'll even throw out Columbia, even though most of us hardcore fans love it, I think in the big scheme of DM it got lost on the casual fans

Underneath The Sky (love the drums) Bring It On Down (was glad to see it brought back on the last tour - but it was definitely overlooked until then) Dont Go Away (it seems you either love this or hate it - i love it personally). EDIT: I Got The Fever as well although thats 4 then

I fuckin love Digsy's dinner as well! The way he screams 'lasagne!' it just shows how powerful liam's voice is that he can turn that into such a rallying cry. Thats always the song I wish I could play live just to watch the audience's faces. Also whats this song called 'wonderwall'?

I know you said Noel-only, but Born on a Different Cloud is colossal in my opinion, I just can't understand why it gets bashed sometimes. It loses its' essence live I think, but it's my favorite HC song by a long way. Maybe for some it's just too hard to look past how derivative it is? Classless, Clever & Free (Clever and Classless and Free from Working Class Hero).
Gas Panic is my favorite song from SOTSOG. This one actually does come across better live IMO. The version from Familiar to Millions gets rotated alot at my place.
Part of The Queue.

Whoops! maybe 3 wasn't enough after all sorry! Yeah I agree with Dont Go Away though, I used to think it was a poorman's Slide Away but I've been listening to Be Here Now alot recently and that song has really come out to shine. The similarities with Slide Away is probably why it gets overlooked alot though. Underneath The Sky is also mad song as well. I dont know how Hey Now! got on the album over that...

There are many of them. Some on DBTT, some on BHN, and a couple of old b-sides my top 3 would be: Gas Panic Mucky Fingers Step Out
Roll With It is also very underrated. It gets so much hate from some people here but I love it. It's very poppy, SO WHAT. It's very very cool

if i add another two besides Digsy's Dinner, I'd go with Married With Children and Who Put the Weight of the World on My Shoulders? Married with Children is an absolutely stellar closer to DM. A lot of people say it should've been a B-side but I feel it completes the journey through that entire album. It showcased Noel's versatility as a writer and allowed Liam to give one of his best vocal performances. WPTHWOTWOMS might be my favorite Oasis song post-2000. The chorus is so catchy and Noel's vocals are spot on. Too bad it wasn't properly released.

If you ask me Acquiesce should have opened (WTS) MG, it just makes the whole album sound well less knackered...
