Obviously I've heard nothing more than the Falling Down Remix and the Aint Got Nothing demo, but for the last year or so I've felt that this next album would be something special.
My theory was always that coming out of a record deal which spanned over a decade, the band would possibly hold something back for the first record on the new deal. Being unsigned for an extended period of time, as a well established artist you can really name your price so to speak.
In addition to that, I would think that the band would really want to demonstrate to potential suitors that they were as much a part of the future as they were the past. I think in terms of courting a new deal, this may have brought a fresh sense of drive and impetus to the new material (that there was this fresh motive that hadn't been there since the early years).
Anyway, I just wondered what kind of contributory factor others may have thought this was to DOYS as opposed to the continuity of Liam, Noel, Andy and Gem into a third album.
