they watermark songs on promo disks these days, so sony can easily find out which mp3 comes from what promo cd. the studio who received that CD would be properly fucked by the record companys.
most """""leaks"""""" arent really leaks, but just spreaded out by the promotion teams behind the artists

And no, leaks arent mostly by promotion teams, they're mostly sourced from manufacturing plants where the albums are mass produced before shipping to shops, but sure theres a definite number where the leak is actually planned, but that conspiracy theory is not widespread and doesnt happen with huge acts that could put out a recorded fart and it will sell.
