Before Dbtt came out, and there were leaks right left and centre invariably there were many posters taking it upon themselves to review the album, which is ofcourse a great thing.

And the result of these reviews was that the majority said that tiobi was a 9.5 (which it is) and let there there be love similar.

I dunno it just felt weird before listening to the album knowing which songs were going to be the highlight according to genuine fans (don't care about the critics)...and something was missing, like it wasn't like stumbling upon the gems of DM, WTSMG TM, as every song had now been thoroughly dissected and opinioned.
THerefore for this album I'm going to stay clear of this and just plunge into the unknown.

And I still think of you on cold winter mornings, darling they remind me when we were at school

I'm totally with you. I was thinking about doing that to...just plunging into it without reading reviews about what's good and what people think is shite. When HC leaked in '02 I had essentially read nothing about the album...I just knew it was coming out. One day a buddy of mine got in online and gave it to me...so I listened to it sight unseen. It was just great...it reminded me of how I got to experience WTSMG, BHN and DM.

When DBTT was coming out I had read everything about every song...(I didn't listen to it before hand)...but I had already this preconceived idea of what each song would be like.....looking back now... it really took the surprise out of it.

It's a little bit like knowing what you're getting for Christmas as a kid! When a concensus is reached on the forum regarding a particular song on the album, you have this predisposed theory of what the song is going to entail. So it becomes more about realizing what others had said when you actually hear it. There's definitely some shine taken off hearing it in that respect. That said there's nothing like hearing it yourself. It makes it hard not to avoid the temptation of downloading leaks for me. It seems almost like you have to in order to share the same experience as those who do, unless you can avoid reading forum threads on the leaks. But who can do that?! Not me anyway.
