word on some forums and a qoute off the Rollingstone forum.
"A friend who has heard snippets of the album says it really is THAT good.He says Sony are cranking up the full marketing kebudle for it and its going to get heavily pushed in the US this time. They believe it will be one of the biggest albums world wide this year-Word is they heard the album and wanted the boys back so desperately they promised to give maximum backing to the release, unlike the last few albums which have been promoted by a few posters in record stores.. (why would sony take back a band they had such a bad relationship with and who left the day after fulfilling the 6 album deal, the last few which were just going through the contractual motions if this new one isn't something special"

I'll believe it when I see it. heard a lot of the same bs with HC and DBTT. I've always been completely dumbfounded as to why they (Sony) threw money out the window by not upping the ante over here and likely doubling album sales. Say what you want about HC or DBTT, but both of those albums could have gone platinum/near platinum here (u.s.) with any kind of promotion. With any hope, the "re-signing" could be a signal that someone new is involved or someone "old" managed to pull their head out of their ass and is ready to play ball.

well considering distribution in the us is with warner brother records this is utter bullshit. this contradicts everything I thought I knew. EPIC/Sony/BMG handled all of the promotion/distribution in north america. Big Brother in the UK. Not sure where Warner Bros comes into anything.

Despite all the supposed glowing reviews for this new album, (that Edith one is completely null if she is in fact on the payroll) I've only cared about one comment and it was from Noel gallagher himself. During one interview he said he was in the studio with Liam, mixing the album, and Liam said, "We're back!" Liam touts each album as being the best, but it was nice to hear him say "we're back" which kinda admits that the previous albums weren't in fact the best since DM. Of course they aren't, but it shows Liam understands this as well.

These little whisperings about the album's alleged quality get me far more excited than the usual bravado in interviews from the band..

I will say that although I think DBTT was a better album than HC, if Sony or anyone else had promted songs like SCYHO or Songbird, the album would have sold at least a million in the U.S. Everyone I know that has heard SCYHO has loved it and it would have been a HUGE radio hit if it ever got airplay. So many people I have seen online ask 'What was that song played at the end of 'Butterfly Effect' it's majestic.
But.....I will wait and see.
A gold record after all these years would be nice but I think they would need to hit singles in the U.S. for that.

DBTT did manage to get certified Gold in the US (200 000+ sales) and entered at No.12 in the charts with first week sales of 65 000. Still not good enough for a band of Oasis' quality, but it shows they are slowly elbowing their way back into the states.

Before "DBTT" came out most reviewers were saying the same thing (it's their best since "MG") and i have to say, in my opinion- i agree! The same was said about "HC"- I didn't agree that time. "SOTSOG" and "BHN" were better albums than "HC." Heathen Chem had better singles!! Also- No hope of breaking America- Hope they do but i just can't see it, too late!!!

SCYHO could have been just as big as Wonderwall here in the US had it been given the promotion and distribution necessary. THAT is an American hit...

Yup SCYHO is a pure american hit. That song could have been huge. I feel LTBL could have been almost has big as a hit also.

Umm, time will tell.
I'm sceptical about Radio 1 dj's comments as Colin Murray raved about DBTT but for me it didn't quite live up to his comments. The only R1 DJ I rate is Jo Wiley and she didn't comment either way.
BUT you do have to wonder why Sony would want oasis back unless the album IS decent this trime. I don't know but I'm sure they weren't easy to deal with and oasis haven't made the best albums of late.. You would have thought they were glad to see the back of them.
So I just don't know about this one. I am trying not to get hyped up so I'm not dissapointed again.
