i personally think, that this is the first time, where we don't get good news for the new record day by day.
it's really annoying not to get what we just want.
there's nothing really interesting stuff. no interviews. no song reviews and so on
damn

No better way to build hype and excitement than by giving us just a little less than we want.

its just about impossible these days. Its not the 90s anymore. The business has changed a lot. I mean give one person one song and a computer and its leaked on the internet. Its tough to keep things secret and unwraps for long these days

Coldplays new one really didn't "leak" ...they did it on purpose a week beforehand. Don't remember for sure, but I don't think Weezer's ever did although there were phony ones everywhere. Don't recall my chemical romances, or beck's new one leaking early either.
I just think it may be a case of us hearing about all the one's that do rather than the hundreds that don't.
I'd say an entire album leak is 50/50...just because 2 did doesn't make a third a guarantee.
I could be wrong though.

Did DBTT ever actually leak? I know mf, ktda, ltbl, and mos did, but i thought the whole album b/c available only after the iTunes mix up, and not after an actual leak.

No better way to build hype and excitement than by giving us just a little less than we want. Would have to disagree there, if there aren't many interviews, TV appearances etc then the average person on the street is not aware there is a new album on the horizon. Sony will surely assume the real Oasis fans will purchase the new album but more coverage means a better chance of the "casual" Oasis fan buying the record

True that, but I reckon a huge marketing campaign in the final month's lead up. And I mean just a mental amount of money spent on posters, adverts (commercials) magazines etc.

But the iTunes thing was a month b/f the release- I'm asking if that was the source of the leak, or if came from outside.

That's right, the album only first appeared online in it's entirety due to a German iTunes mistake. There were promo CDs going round for weeks before hand, yet no-one dared leak it because they were all watermarked. It'll be the same this time round. It's more likely we'll hear some of the new songs for the first time in bootlegs from the Canadian gigs in August, although Shock of the Lightning will be around before then.

So that means that the album never really leaked, right? If not for a simple iTunes mistake, it's likely it never would have leaked, correct? Hope this one doesn't leak...

I think so, I remember reading that the promo cds that were given out had to be destroyed with in a time frame, you had to destroyed the cd and then mail Sony or whoever a photo of of the destroyed CD, it was crazy.

Didn't Heathen Chemistry leak almost 2 months before it was officially released? I remember the first leak had a different (and better) track listing. Little By Little and SCYHO were reversed.
The new R.E.M album didn't leak until 2 days before the official release.

SOTSOG, HC and DBTT leaked more than 3 months before the release and at the time for the leak we allready have had alot of albumreviews.
This time is obviously different. Just a few qutoes about people who claims to have heard the album. No real review of any track of the whole album. It is obvious that Oasis has a new approach this time and it seems like they will promote it to the media much later this time.
It is good for Oasis but it is hard to wait. We shall atleast have the single in the beginning of August which will make the wait easier if we dont allready have the album at that time. However since there have not even been a review the leak doesnt feel to happen as early as with the previous Oasislabums in the new millenium.

The new R.E.M album didn't leak until 2 days before the official release. Not true. I had the REM album at least three weeks before the release, but it was only up for about four hours before the site that posted it was shut down. The lawyers were after them forth with... And for an earlier post, the new Beck and Weezer was floating around for at least two weeks before release - maybe longer. Bigger acts who can afford bigger lawyers usually do a better job limiting leaks, but no one can prevent them in this day and age entirely.
