that Falling Down will almost certainly be at least somewhat of a departure fom the Oasis "sound".
I mean unless they've (Chemical Bros) completely eliminated the guitar(s) and any assemblance of a stringed bass line, this song is almost certainly heading into uncharted waters for the band. And although it wouldn't be completey unheard of for an electronic outfit to remix and do the aforementioned, wouldn't it be a little odd to completely remove what makes oasis "oasis"?
Maybe this album really will change some minds.

ok, I just listened to it, and I'll be honest, that was really bad. it has to be the terrible chemical bros mixing. no way oasis would put something like that out.

Worst case scenario: Noel feels the one facet of being a rock god he never tackled was being bold and innovative, so this is a late attempt at it, which will bomb because he was just never cut out for it.
I haven't actually heard the song, and don't want to until I have the album, but if it's like that, I hope people are just jumping the gun. Remember that Meaning of Soul and A Bell Will Ring were, I think, the first glimpses they let us have of DBTT, in live form, and if you judged what the album was going to be by that, you were pretty far off.

This is incredible. These forums are hilarious. There's a a bunch of people who aren't into anything but one specific genre, and they think the remix is the end of the world. There's people who think this remix is what the song will sound like and are freaking out because "it doesn't have guitars!" Here's some advice: everyone's got themselves in a tizzy, typing up a storm on these forums like a mouse on crack. This is just a Chemicals remix... remixing involves cutting parts, moving them around... puting choruses before verses and leaving out middle 8's etc.... it also almost exclusively means only using the vocal track and at most, a hooky guitar or piano line. This is not close to what you will hear on the record, so settle down, you'll have your guitars and drums and trad-rock music on the studio version. Those of you wanting the whole record to sound like this remix... there's no making sense of you people... this wouldn't be a "progression" as you are saying... this would be 1996 again. It's basically Setting Sun with a new Noel melody.

The Parisian post-punk duo John & Jehn came in for a mixing session with engineer Matt Pharrer, and then Mancunian rock gods Oasis booked out some time with Chemical Brothers' Tom Rowlands and Interface's Steve Dub. Tom and Steve also worked on some mixes for Oasis' fellow North-Westerners, Doves,

Liam wouldn't be saying the album is "rockin'" and Noel wouldn't say "it's not for girls" if the album was gonna sound like that. i bet it'll have guitars to eleven.

This song is fuck'n mega, but it's a Chemical Brothers Remix, so what do you think it's gonna sound like?
It's like Setting Sun - check out the album version compared to Noel's acoustic demo to get an idea of what they do to a song.

I always preferred the chemical brothers version of setting sun, it's massive! Did they not write it first anyways? Am I alone in all of my opinions?

Yes... Amen And double amen. I thought they accidentally started playing Setting Sun when it started. Same damn thing. I'm hoping that the only part of this song that comes from the actual album cut is Noel's vocal and the all-too-brief piano lines.
