Hey I love HC, I think it is better than DBTT. Songbird is Liam's best song by far and SCYHO is brilliant! In fact I listen to it more than most Oasis albums.

I think it flows brilliantly, all the songs blend in to each other nicely!
The production of DBTT is a shambles, people only like it cos they're supposed to...

DBTT production was great. The whole album keeps you interested. HC production to me was the worst they've ever done. It has it's moments like songbird but SCYHO could have been jaw dropping good with the production that we saw in DBTT. It was ruined with HC. I agree with a comment above, by the time A Quick Peep comes around I have lost interest in HC.

No offense but you know nothing about production if you think DBTT was poorly produced. Go listening to BHN and HC if you want to hear shit production. You may not like the whole stripped down style of the record, but as far as mixing and arrangements, Sardy was tremendous. DBTT and SOTSOG are both recorded brilliantly. Now the songs on them are another matter

Oasis have never been about that kinda of american production so I don't know how you all so easily accept it. Oasis had an awesome wall of arrogant sound, and have given it up for tinny crap to please the current indie/punk culture and the critics. I don't think any songs on DBTT are good enough to even make it onto HC, so leave it alone P.S. I hope you mean the songs are far better on SOTSOG than DBTT, incase you can't tell how mcuh I dislike that album.

Don't generalize and make it seems every album by Sardy sounds like that. Noel's said they wanted a more stripped, 60's sound for that album...so why blame Sardy for executing Noel's vision? And for the record, even though HC is horribly produced, I still think it gets a bad rap. I think that album really had some great, classic Oasis type songs...but you could almost feel them holding back while listening to the record.

OK then, I'm not blaming Sardy for doing what Noel told him, but Noel has obviously had the wrong vision. The production was just not right for oasis, the songs sound so much bigger live. That should tell you there's something wrong with the way you've put them down on CD!

um HC had no "wall of sound" effect to it thats why its my least favorite. Its production is dull and most of the second half of the album is forgettable. HC was also somewhat an Oasis by numbers but with dull production. DBTT was creative and new and the production was a lot better. Even though MOS is probably my least favorite song on DBTT but it rocks the hell out of anything on HC and that includes THT and HIABP (they are solid tunes but imagine them with better production) I mean at least shitty songs like PYMWYMI had energy and swagger to them.

Would change the tone of the guitars on HC or just the production cos I think some people mix these two up?

It is true that DBTT was the more "creative" and "better produced," but I still find myself playing Hindu Times, Songbird, and SCYHO much more that Turn Up the Sun, Lyla, or Importance of Being Idle.
DBTT was a fine album, but I haven't purposely listened to it in a long time. Best song from those sessions was I Can See It Now...

I don't think any of you can argue that on songwriting HC kicks the crap outta DBTT. In my opinion, the best song on DBTT is merely an outtake of the SOTSOG era. That tells you about the drop in quality!

That tells you about the drop in quality! HC is fucking dire, there worst and most poorly produced album. Its empty, hollow shit bar a couple of songs. To even suggest that its better than DBTT is a disgrace. I'd prepare for the worst mate because i dont think you're gonna like the new album as their trying somthing new. There wont be enough Radio one songs on their for you.

This always happened with the last album out, everyone starts to hate it, we have heard it to much, we haven't has something new in 3 years! So we grow to hate it...we did this with Heathen Chemistry as well. As for production Oasis really hasn't had a really well produced record...even DBTT was kinda dry and spare, it lack bass, HC was basically a basic pop production... I think really if you go back Definitely Maybe while not incredible in production, the production does fit the music...and I guess you can say that about Be Here Now, large bloated music = Large bloated production. I eagerly await Dig Out Your Soul

Noel, himself has said so many times he does not care about the credibility of music, just whether or not it sounds good. Oasis are a good pop band, not boundary crossing klaxons, they write good pop songs. What gives you the right to musical snobbery based on only your opinion. If anything you are the one listening t the likes of radio one and not making up your own mind. I bet I could guess your views as pretty stereoptyped and almost copied and pasted from the NME's review of DBTT, HC and SOTSOG. Piss off! Say what you think please people, not what you read.

You're the one making a whole list of assumptions there mate. First of all you seem to think that a band has to break boundries to do something different. I mean Klaxons FFS! Who mentioned them. Somthing different doesn't have to groundbreaking moron. You were the one harping on about the anthems on HC, Noels said expect less of them. So i was saying dont count on liking the new record. DBTT was a step in the right direction, and with this album i'll think you'll see the fruit of that. HC went nowhere. Wrong again by the way, NME said HC was good. At least make sure you know your sources before writing rubbish.

So you know exactly what every review says, just incase someone asks your opinion on one?
Oh wait, better check. Nope, it looks like I don't actually like BHN (yes, I know it got very good reviews at the time before you make another pathetic quip). I bet you can't describe the production of BHN without the word bloated or soul-less (I'm predicting you'll just say "crap" instead now).
And, by the way you did not say less anthems, you made a more patronising radio one reference. Trying to make out I'm just a wonderwall fan or whatever. What makes you the expert here just because you're part fo the majority doesn't make you right. Music is all about opinion after all.

Hahahah nah i like BHN yeah its over the top but i like it and the production, and no i dont memorise reviews i just happen to remember the NME review for HC, not a remarkable feat really. Noel said less hits, which you would think means less anthems. Its not rocket science. In fact oppose to people like yourself i'm in the minority, i'm looking foeward to a different direction even if its not successful at least they had a go. Lets face it if they kept churning out HC'S it would be pretty dull. Please stop making ridiculous assumptions without having any grounds in making them.
