I was reallllllly (REALLLY) bored in class today, had the new album on my mind, so I was thinking about past albums also. Was thinking where I would add/take away tracks in order to make my perfect albums, adding in b-sides and such (and sometimes some unreleased stuff), and getting rid of the masterplan cd entirely. I ended up with 13 songs on each record, 14 on MG and DBTT.

digsy's dinner shouldn't even be a b-side. some of your tracklistings are good except i don't think acquiesce could be on any album without being the first song, it's just such an opener! |

Sometimes I wonder 'bout those things too...
In DM I would put Listen Up and Fade Away instead of Digsy Dinner and Married with Children...
In MG I would put Acquiesce, Rockin' Chair, Step ou and Masterplan, taking away the instrumentals and Hey Now....
BHN I probably wouldn't change much...
SOTSOG I'd put LAMB and One Way ROad instead of Sunday mornin Call....
HC I'd probably trade She Is Love for SIOL
in DBTT guess I'd throw MOS and ABWR and replace with Nothin' On Me and Eyeball Tickler.... wouldn't put STC and RM cos' they're only demos, and they way i know that couldn't fit and album

NOTES: Wouldn't change much on this one. It's damn near perfect. Think Sad Song is a better song than Married With Children and adding Fade Away and Whatever strengthens an already classic debut album.

NOTES: I like the idea of Acquiesce coming second. Makes for a great one-two. The second half is perhaps a bit ballad-heavy but they're all amazing songs and I have tried to break them up a bit. Underneath The Sky is still one of my all-time favourite Liam vocals and Rockin' Chair is a beautiful addition. Certainly better than She's Electric!

NOTES: The album that could maybe have had a chance of living up to the hype. If Noel had just hung on to The Masterplan a little bit longer it would have been a perfect fit for Be Here Now and far better than the frankly boring All Around The World. Always thought Be Here Now was the perfect album opener, don't know why they didn't use it as such. I also ditched It's Getting Better Man as it's over-long and repetitive. Going Nowhere is a brilliant, vastly-underrated song so it's in there. The length of the songs means the album is a better length with just ten tracks.

NOTES: A tricky one as there was a huge gulf between Noel's good and bad songs during this era. He wrote amazing songs like Let's All Make Believe and left them off the album. He wrote bad Beatles-karaoke crap like Who Feels Love and released it as a single. Just shows the level of self-doubt he must have been feeling at this point after the panning Be Here Now received. Having said that, he's never been the best at picking singles.
Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is may seem an odd opener but I burned a copy of the album at the time with that as the lead-off track and it worked brilliantly. Especially if you cross-fade it in to Go Let It Out. I would use Fuckin' In The Bushes as a Swamp Song-type song that comes in and out of the album as it is so unOasis-like that it doesn't sit well otherwise. If I could I would ditch I Can See A Liar and Roll It Over but would be struggling to fill the album. On Way Road is a good Noel tune but I prefer Carry Us All. Ideally Revolution Song would be sung by Liam and would have strings all over it.

NOTES: Another album that's difficult to strengthen much owing to a lack of outstanding alternative songs. Thankyou For The Good Times is a good Liam vocal and adds a bit of bite in among all the ballads. If I could I would ditch Better Man, (Probably) All In The Mind and maybe Born On A Different Cloud but there is nothing really suitable to replace them with as there would be too many Noel-sung songs on there otherwise.

Probably would prefer Liam to sing it though.

I love the way how DM starts with "Rock 'n' Roll Star" and ends with "Married With Children".
I think "Married..." is a great song to finish that album.

On Definitely Maybe, I would've included Listen Up. I think this is one of their best songs ever!
On Morning Glory, they really should've used another song than Hey Now! Rockin' Chair would be perfect.
Be Here Now for me is perfect. But they should've included Stay Young on it!
Why on earth wasn't Let's All Make Believe on Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants?
The problem with Heathen Chemistry is that the first half is really good! The second half seems to drag on a bit. I would left out (Probably) All In The Mind and She's Love, and replaced them with Thank You For The Good Times and Shout It Out Loud.
I think Don't Believe The Truth is a near perfect album. Could've easily replaced The Meaning Of Soul with Eyeball Tickler though.
