A lot of the time when I play along to Oasis, I'm not in tune with them despite my guitar being tuned to standard tuning. Some Might Say for instance...how have they got that tuned? I always sound way off when I play along to that. Married With Children is a bit flat too I think? Is Noel prone to tuning his guitar a bit flat?

From what I can tell the guitars are tuned slightly sharp on Don't Look Back In Anger and Going Nowhere, and slightly flat on Married With Children, but I'm fairly sure Some Might Say is standard tuning. I've certainly never noticed a difference.

It seems that at least half of the songs on Definitely Maybe are tuned 1/2 step sharp.

Nah, if that were the case you'd be playing half of the album with a capo on the first fret.

As far as I remember only Slide Away and Married With Children aren't in standard tuning on Definitely Maybe. I remember reading somewhere that they recorded Slide Away and then pitch edited it slightly sharp, can't remember where I read this though

I believe that it's all in the production - you guys are right; a lot on DM sound sharp, but I remember reading that this was done intentionally when the album was mixed.
Best bet would be to play along to the live stuff, but you'll also notice that Noel does use a cappo quite liberally - acoustic and electric.
Of course all is still in standard tuning, cappo or not. On the new album however, Noel was quoted as saying some of the songs are in different tuning - it'll be interesting to see what this will be live as a player.
Cheers!

True, Oasis always use standart tunning expect in Fade In/Out and Who Feels Love?... and of course the new songs from DOYS

Maybe it wasn't even intentional.

i think some of them are tunned a little higher than standard. A capo on the first fret would be raising the pitch an entire step.

I also noticed that when I was younger and learning to play guitar but I was told that it might be because of the pitch correction while mixing the album. that's why some songs sound slightly off.

I know for a fact live forever is slightly sharp or flat. if you got the familiar to millions CD or DVD or something it came with something that teaches you that song and you they tell you to retune your guitar before you start.

i dont think they use a lot of different tunings, a couple of songs here and there. But Noel loves to use a capo on the second fret, and occasionally he uses some wierdish chords which you might not pick up if your just playing by ear.
