Doesn't it seem weird that the tour will begin almost 2mos before the scheduled release date of the album? (8/26 v. 10/?)...Most bands usually make the gap a little less, no? In this case, doesn't that confirm that we'll at least know the contents of the album by august?

I wonder if maybe they'll only play the single during those shows.

A lot of bands play well before new album like the Verve toured last year when the new album ain't out for ages.
Though most bands usually release album then do a tour a few months later. Think it just depend on time of year and scheduling of the band.
Don't think it's a big deal to know the tracklisting but how many bands play a full new album when touring? i can't think of any unless it's a debut album.
I'm just waiting for Uk shows.... better not be waiting till 2009... that will be a real shame.

I've been thinking about this for a while. At the gig before the album comes out, they should play the b-sides for the forthcoming single. That way, they could preview new material without giving away any of the new album. I really think this would be a good idea. Also the new b-sides would mean something. Nearly any of the b-sides after 2000 have been played live before.

Noel said somewhere that the new songs will sound great live, so I hope they play most of the album

I'm pretty sure Noel says that every time, and last time out he was dead wrong, I reckon.

I think it would be wise to play a few songs from thenew album, maybe in diffferent forms. They did that with a few morning glory songs, and some BHN songs too. Would be really cool, and we still wouldn't really know how they will sound

Nearly any of the b-sides after 2000 have been played live before. Yea, if the only goal is to protect the band from material "leaking", this is a good idea. However, that's hardly their aim. Bands don't go on tour for the hell of it, especially when they've got an album coming out a little over a month from the point of the first show. Very few bands give two shits about inferior audience recordings leaking that only hardcore fans will give a listen to. It's pretty obvious they chose these first places to road test the new material before embarking on a bigger tour in the UK etc. I imagine it'll be similar to any new album tour, they'll play 5 or 6 new ones.
