Shocking. Liam has a song on the record that's just one verse and one chorus. Oh, and the other song is... LENNONESQUE? Amazing.
If Noel has 7 songs that's very exciting.

I'm pretty sure I heard more than once that the album has 11 tracks... the question is, have Liam written 2 or 3 songs in the album... and we already know two of them... I guess it means no Boy With The Blues... or maybe Noel tossed one of his own in order to put it... who knows... and about the b-sides, Noel stated that they sound as b-sides, which doesn't mean that they'l be in fact. it might mean they never bothered to record them properly...

I hate this! Why does Noel have this stone wall in his head that won't allow more than 11 or 12 songs on a new LP?? If they wanted to be creative instead of stubborn and lazy, they would have a double disc, one with RM, STC, BWTB, and make that side that Beatlesy sound....And then make the other disc basically Dig Out Your Soul minus a song or two. Noel has said they have handfuls of good songs left over from DBTT, why not?

Well if he was being super selective he wouldn't have a Liam tune on any record. But alas, brotherly love.

I'm really disappointed that a Liam song is closing the album. He writes ok songs but they get overrated by a lot of fans because Liam writes it. I hope it's decent. But to me, the closing song is always one of the most important songs on the album . . .

I thinks it's gonna be pretty good because they brought it back from the dead. You don't just do that if it's crap. At least I hope not.

Just one verse... that is so Liam... Best singer of a generation / amateur songwriter.... It'll likely be one of those little ditties that can't really be considered a song... albums close with stuff like that alot... I'd imagine there's 11 songs and then that Liam thing at the end.

Well the Coral members seemed to like it, and I've seen a couple of mentions elsewhere that the album closer is a good song. I am a bit wary though, sounds like it could end up as another Better Man.

For all you know Liam could have popped up with a stunner. And I had this argument before, NO ONE likes a tune based on only the writer. You like the tune because it sounds good. If Noel wrote Songbird, I would have liked it the exact same way as I do now. So I have no idea what you're on about. A song is about the melody, and lyrics - not about the guy holding the pen writing it.

I'm not sure about that. Noel description made it seem pretty awesome. "It reminds me of a guy walking through sand, carrying a big fucking block on his back, and it just goes on for ages." Don't ask me what that means, but it sounds kind of epic . And it's about time we have an epic/long song end an album. He also said it goes crazy in the end, which would be pretty cool. Plus, it's about time they brought back the melodica from CS!

Not sure, but it might be something like this? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dub_musicDub music is characterized as a "version" or "double" [1] of an existing song, often instrumental, using B-sides of 45 RPM records and typically emphasizing the drums and bass for a sound popular in local sound systems. The instrumental tracks are typically drenched in sound processing effects such as echo, reverberation, part vocal and extra percussion, with most of the lead instruments and vocals dropping in and out of the mix. Another hallmark of the dub sound is the massive low-pitched bass guitar. The music sometimes features processed sound effects and other noises, such as birds singing, thunder and lightning, water flowing, and producers shouting instructions at the musicians. It can be further augmented by live DJs. The many-layered sounds with varying echoes and volumes are often said to create soundscapes, or sound sculptures, drawing attention to the shape and depth of the space between sounds as well as to the sounds themselves. There is usually a distinctly organic characteristic of the music, even though the effects are electronically created.

I just caught that "ages" line... if there's not a lot of content they must go into quite a bit of music at the end then... that sounds cool. We'll see, no point in judging what we don't know.

i'm really anxious to hear 'bag it up' I can't get past the name. Where I'm from, that's slang for using contraception. In fact - I'm fairly sure that that's what the Geri Halliwell song of the same name was written about.

A song is about the melody, and lyrics - not about the guy holding the pen writing it. Am I judging the song ?? Please point out in my post where I say the song is bad or mediocre or anything . . . I said I was disappointed that it's a Liam penned song. I'm just going from his past material, therefore, I'm looking at the song's chances. And to me, the chances seem like it might be mediocre. But who knows. Just like loungepop said, 'history teaches us about the future.' MOS is mediocre at best, LJ was bad, LLAB has its moments but has a couple of lines that tarnish it, GGTIA is pretty good, Songbird is good, PMDTW is terrible. I know those aren't all his songs, but I don't feel like going through all of them. I'm just saying he has a mediocre past. But like you said, who knows. It could be a stunner. Maybe Noel and Gem really added to the song and made it worthwhile. We'll have to see. And yes, people overrate Liam's songs because it's Liam. TMOS would and should never be praised if anyone else wrote it. I'm not saying people just like songs because he wrote it. But they'll get a lot more attention than they should. And you're naive if you think otherwise . . .
