Given the news that STC may appear on DOYS as a closing track, don't you think that it can turn into another LTBL?
Don't get me wrong, LTBL is good but not great, and it was written about 5-8 years or something before DBTT came out (remember "It's a Crime" SOTSOG demo?). As we know, it was D.Sardy who convinced Noel to re-work the LTBL and to include it in DBTT as the final track (not 100% sure, but I think I've read it somewhere). Even Noel in the interviews refused to agree that LTBL was "one of these songs", claiming that the best tunes are written very fast (without numerous reworks over the years).
So if STC is included in DOYS as a closing track (as the latest news suggest), I'm afraid it can repeat the story with LTBL - good but not great, with a lot of potential but underworked. It'd be a shame because I liked the demo of the song very much (and some of its lyrics are insanely great!), and I'd love it to be developed into another great Oasis song.
In any case, I hope that Oasis prove my fears to be wrong.
Can't wait to get my hands on DOYS!

its not the final track. New Noel interview in MOJO names the closing track as a Liam tune called 'soldier on'

I reckon Stop The Clocks will be either a B-side or standalone or be featured on another thing altogether like Lord Don't Slow me Down. The outro of it would make a fine replacement for Fuckin' in the Bushes live though...

What, because the two songs have a few similarities - potential closer, originally written several years ago, etc., they're going to both have the same fate too? No, I don't think so. Liam and the rest of the band wanted to make LTBL have a big sound with another Noel segment, but NOEL turned that down. He was proved wrong, because it's a very average, if not ever so slightly below average, tune when it could and should have been mega. Noel learns from his past mistakes. He won't make the same mistake with STC - especially since he holds this song in very high regards. And that's also why STC WILL appear on a studio album, either DYOS or on a future release. It wont be a stand alone. And it DEFINITELY won't be a B-Side. Once again, Noel has learned to not withhold his quality tunes like Acquisce or The Masterplan. But the short answer: No, I don't think STC will suffer like LTBL did (LTBL also has a very pointless and crap outro too). And yes, I think it'll appear on a studio release - it's too good not to, and Noel cares about it too much to discard it as a BSide.

We no that Noel held this song in high regard a couple of years ago, but this may well have changed taking his new songs into account.
As he said, he felt the songs left over from DBTT now song like b-sides.
Until i hear confirmation of it on an official release, i wouldn't like to second guess Noel's plans for this song.

I agree about the fate of the song, but I wouldn't say that Noel learned from his past mistakes... I remember Noel quoting that he wantd LTBL to be in the STC (the album), which means he loves the song as it is... and since RM and STC probably WON'T be in the album, I think we may see it as b-sides or something, otherwise, there will always be fresh new songs to replace them in the next albuns...
