The part when they are talking about 'Let There Be Love', Noel says Dave Sardy, Liam and his Mgr convinced him to put LTBL on the album and Noel mumbles something about for once on one of his albums can we not......I have no clue what he says...
Anyone remember?

From memory he says something like "can we not for once have an album without the flag-waver on it?"

he's implying that he didn't want another epic anthem to close the record. he was hoping to leave off the...for lack of a better word...'power ballad'....

Shout It Out Loud is the definition of a flagwaver.

if you look at all their albums they usaully end in a slow or sappy song... married with children, roll it over, let there be love...... i think he wants to end a album on a high note(a rocking song) not some slow sappy song......thats atleast my take on it...

I'm pretty sure his quote was "For once can we not have a song used for the exit of the England football team", or something of that nature

I'm pretty sure his quote was "For once can we not have a song used for the exit of the England football team", or something of that nature that makes more sense in the 2002's world cup, just after Brazil defeated England in the quarter-finals, the tv channel that was broadcasting it played stop crying your heart out showing the england players really sad.. that was quite funny

So they made Noel use a song that was demoed in 98/99 for the SOTSOG sessions. Maybe Noel was toying with it and was going to put it as a b-side for one of the DBTT singles but they made him to stick it on the album with Liam added on vox.
Also Noel had Record Machine and Stop The Clocks which were far superior ...don't make much sense.
