I think noel just keeps getting better whilst liam goes the other way (however, not as severely as people make out-he is still consistently awesome on studio songs).

The over-rasp thing is pretty ridiculous sounding, and I can't for the life of me figure out why he does that or why Noel would allow it to be recorded... maybe that's why Noel insists on singing so many of his songs now... but Liam only does it on certain songs (it makes Love Like A Bomb unlistenable to me)... I just went back and listened to Wonderwall again for the first time in years and his voice sounds astonishing. He got some of that gentle vibe going in Let There Be Love and Songbird so I know he can do it (but the dry production doesn't help). We'll see what happens on this record. Noel's voice sounds nice but it's still Adult Oriented Radio. Just listen to the demo of Lyla to see how important Liam really is, and why he should sing almost all the songs.

the first time i heard DBTT, i didnt particularly like liams vocals. they did however grow on me though... and now i absolutely love the way he sounds on DBTT. its kind of weird.. perhaps its actually the music that has grown on me... and the vocals are now where they belong within the structure of the songs since i now appreciate the songs for what they are. comprendas?

I had never heard that Lyla demo... Proof of why we need Liam. Other than Step Out and The Fame, Noel can't really do a quick up beat song.

Stop The Clocks as the album's closer... and it's sung by Noel... hmmm... I hope there's only one or two Noel-sung songs (when in reality I know there will be 5, which SUCKS.) The change-up means so much more when it's done just once like on the 2nd and 3rd records. Liam makes tunes exciting. don't forget one thing: the version that appears on the album may be sung by liam, especailly if it is an amped up version noel has said there are several versions, some with him singing it, some with liam singing

He said there's Liam versions? When? Did Noel not say that he sings the last track on the record? ..and now we hear it's STC...

i have read this whole thread and seen no confirmation anywhere that noel will sing, infact liam has sung every album closer on the proper albums (not counting the rreprise) so i dont think its unreasonable to suggest that liam will , as usual be on vocal duties for this closer

However its also not unreasonable to think they made a change to that supposed "tradition". There's no sense arguing about any of this until theres hard fact out there.

I suspect a Liam vocal with highly mixed Noel backing vox to be honest, but who knows.

I remember there was an interview (russell brand maybe???) where Noel said the only reason it's taken so long to release STC is because there are so many different versions of it and no one can decide on which one they like best. Therefore I'm assuming we'll get a different version on the album since we've already heard one and apparently there are loads...

He says it here on a video I shot from his Q&A in NYC. This whole interview is on the bonus disc of Lord Don't Slow Me Down

It's gonna be interesting seeing Andy Bell live after this album, from what Noel's saying there's gonna be more complex bass, having such an accomplished musician on bass gives them the opportunity to do that and it should be good to watch.

I have a feeling a lot is to be added, changed etc.

Yeah... getting our hopes up will just depress us when the record comes out and Noel is singing all these, because Noel basically sings all his tunes now except for the opening single... at least judging from DBTT... he did let Liam share LTBL I guess, but that's it.
