I am fairly certain he meant the final version of DBTT that we have, only STC would have been track 7, but was later replaced by GGTIA in the last minute. That's absolutely atrocious if true well, again, i'm not positive... that's just what i gathered from reading all of the promotional interviews noel did for the record in 2005

I'm pretty sure GGTIA never replaced STC, it was supposed to be a 12 track album as far as I can remeber when a newspaper published the setlist for the first time

It was supposed to be track 6. It wasn't replaced with anything it was simply just left off.

Didn't Noel say in an interview ages ago that he had 17 tracks written for the album? Assuming there's only 6 Noel tracks on the album as reported, then even with b-sides there's going to be a lot of unreleased material sitting around.

Why would they not make a recent album or single but make a final album ? My point is if they weren't good enough now why would they be then? unless Noel hits a writers block, I am not sure why Noel would used older songs he wasn't wild about in the first place, then use fresher more relevant songs....

The only way I can support my own theory is with this:
Maybe Noel is thinking about the STYLE of the final album already?
You all ask why would Noel leave off the best songs like RM from this album, and release average filler instead? - I'm not saying DOYS will be average. I'm not saying anything about DOYS for that matter. But perhaps RM and STC just doens't fit the groove style of the album. As suggested already, STC was left off DBTT not because it was crap or not good enough, but because Noel didn't think it slotted in well with the rest of the DBTT tunes.
Each album has a distinct style, you all know that. You can't put Wonderwall in the middle of DM, or a Supersonic in the middle of SOTSOG or WTSMG, etc.
So maybe Noel wants a ballad/anthem type of album to finish his career, so he's saving those types of songs for that album also enabling him to improve the likes of RM and STC, while writing other CLASS tunes for a different style album - like groves for DOYS....
Yeah it seems far fetched, and it is - mainly because I don't think any of us can see Noel thinking 5+ years ahead like that. But it does make enough sense, and is really the only plausible explanation to why RM wont be on this album - it doesnt fit the groove style. (And don't give me the bs that it's "not good enough" cause it clearly is - check the polling section lol)

You're putting way too much effort into this.
