no type of publicity is bad publicity,, IMHO
there is a slight chance that: in the states , , this may, i reiterate, may get more people talking about the new album, hence helping airplay/sales/chart position

haha. Check out the 42 second mark. Jay-Z tries to say something, but the crowd just keeps on singing.

I didn't even think there WAS a band playing...all I heard was Jay Z singing over the album version.
Maybe when a higher quality video comes along, I might be able to tell.

Some of the opinions being thrown around on here for both sides of the argument are ridiculous. I personally think that theres not much wrong with Jay-Z playing Glasto, perhaps headlining is a bit far but fair play to him for having a go. The Glasto festival is supposed to be eclectic in terms of the smaller stages and tents but everyone took the fact that no big guitar band are playing out on Jay-Z. Noel made a little comment that he probably perceived as entirely throwaway but he's ended up with his foot in his mouth as usual. Noel never seems to realise when to keep his opinion about something to himself, he probably doesnt mean any malice by it, he's just so used to saying it how he see's it. All in all its been an entirely embarrassing argument for Noel, Jay-Z and the music press and some people need to grow up. Jay-Z shouldnt have made a deal out if as ridiculous as last night, I thought he was classier than that. As for Rap at a festival put it this way, I went to V festival last year and Kanye West was the best act of the weekend.

As for Rap at a festival put it this way, I went to V festival last year and Kanye West was the best act of the weekend. Kanye is a dumb shit. You can't get any more stupid than that guy. I never gave a toss about him, and was indifferent to him, but after the incident/video clip below, I lost all respect for this clown: At least when Noel spouts his views he picks the right time to do so, and makes sense when he does. Rappers aren't the smartest people. And it def. takes a lot more brain power to write a Live Forever or a Slide Away than it does to produce anything on The Black Album, or to "shake your laffy taffy" - seriously, wtf? It takes very little talent to rap. And, apart from the odd track here or there, the lyrics in rap are atrocious, for many reasons. Rap is the downfall of society. The whole culture behind it. Wearing shorts down to your ankles so you look like a girl wearing capris, rapping about shooting, raping bitches, and "ghetto" life, and the slang and bling....nothing is cool about that. You just look and sound SO stupid. Look at a picture of Liam Gallagher in his prime - now he epitomizes cool. Fort Minor best summed it up best and smartly in their analogy rap/song - Cigarettes: Man I love this rap game Mainly cuz its cool To add a little spice to the life you've been through Everyone exaggerates a tiny little bit To make that shit sound more gangster than it really is You cant appear weak man We wanna hear street Wanna hear you spit your thug over this here beat Dont take it as sarcastic I can't get enough Im telling you You can call my bluff If it's not rough, then I really don't need it I'm not even ashamed I got too much reality thats filling up my brain so sell me on that chronic, I'm addicted to the game Suck it up like a cigarette, light it up Its just like a cigarette, its something that I do Once in awhile but between me and you Its just like a cigarette Nobody's really fooled I dont want the truth, I wanna feel fucking coolLet me tell you something that I realized tonight My hip hop radio is like marlboro lights They're both selling stories and they sound about the same Cigarettes say their safe, rappers claim they really bang We dont care if it's true when we lay the money down We don't believe the words, we just love the way they sound They're acting like we're idiots, They're lying to our face Maybe we are idiots, we buy it anywayI'm runnin out to get the next rapper's CD Just suckin up the guns, drugs, and misogyny The same way that I suck up all the stories When I breathe that little bit of death supposedly cancer-free and Everything they say's got the truth twisted up But twisted up's what I want man, I can't get enough Cuz even though we know it's all just a big bluff We just light another up, what We don't give a fuck

Q: Which headliner was better, Jay Z or Oasis in 2004 hmmm, Oasis with horrible, out of tune singing and half arsed performance which eventually led to Noel making a public apology Or Jay Z, who silended all the critics and drew one of the highest crowds for a headliner on the pyramid stage

Agree with it, hero. And more: Jay-Z proved that he's an analphabet vagina. Why? Noel criticized Glastonbury's organization, NOT Jay-Z

The "more brainpower" statement is completely and utterly retarded. I found Jay-Z's response, even though it might have been a bit over top, good. Gave Noel a bit of his own medicine. THe crowd were loving it IMO. I find it funny, how oasis fan boys stick to everything Noel says... Ok, it was throw away comment and it was completely hyped by the media. But still... to stick up for that nonsense. Although you might hate rap, there is some good stuff out there. Listened to the Blue Album??

I think Jay Z handled the situation in a pretty classy, funny way, and you have to respect him for making light of the whole thing. But at the same time, you could tell he was pissed to fuck during the chorus...

Show me any study at all that supports the 'fact' that writing a song like Live Forever uses more brian power than writing a hip hop song. Do you use these type 'facts' in your papers for uni?

Well, that was interesting. First he says people who draw lines between different kinds of music are racist, and then he goes on to say that hip hop is poetry and an artform. mmmm And that interviewer is a total idiot Tim Westwood is a twat of the highest order. No idea how he is still in a job, he is almost universally hated.

I read a report from Sky that said it was less then average for a headlines. Whatever the case, Oasis at Glasto '04 was shit.
