JAY-Z will deliver the ultimate two-finger salute to NOEL GALLAGHER when the hip-hop star headlines at Glastonbury tonight.
OASIS star Noel stuck his neck out and claimed The Jiggaman’s type of music was WRONG for the festival.
Now the American plans to broadcast Noel’s innocent, throwaway musings to Glasto’s 300,000 punters when he takes to the Pyramid Stage.
Bizarre lord Noel joked that hip-hop topping the bill at the Somerset bash was a blunder.
His typically cheeky red-carpet interview last April, in which he insisted hip-hop had no place at Worthy farm, soon mushroomed into an international music crisis.
Now Jay-Z has secured rights to the interview — as well as GWYNETH PALTROW’s defence of Jay-Z a few days later — and will pump it all out at a deafening volume across the rolling hills of Glasto before he wheels out his rap bangers.
That’s one way to face down the critics.
But last night Noel shrugged it off as a storm in a teacup. He said: “Blaring out? I f****** doubt it very much. There aren’t enough speakers. Well, I guess it will make the first five minutes interesting.”
So here is what Noel originally had to say about Glasto: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If you start to break it then people aren’t going to go. I’m sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance.
“Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw in the odd curve ball on a Sunday night you go, ‘Kylie Minogue?’ I don’t know about it. But I’m not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong.”

The Brooklyn-born former drug dealer has been blamed for poor ticket sales at this year’s event. And news he was to top the bill on the prestigious Saturday night shocked many.
Pelted But with millions of album sales under his belt, there’s little doubt the Grammy winner is one of the most successful solo males on the circuit at the moment.
Hip-hoppers have a history of not being particularly well received at British music festivals, though. 50 CENT battled a barrage of urine-filled bottles when he played Reading Festival in 2004.
And Brit MC LETHAL B was pelted with clods of earth during his set at the Download Festival earlier this month.
But Jay-Z is clearly a sharp character and a proper showman to dream up a stunt like this.
It wouldn’t surprise me if, for his encore, he belted out Wonderwall.

It'd be fantastic if he fell flat on his arse (metaphorically speaking). He probably won't, mind.

Seriously? And here the press tried to show Jay-Z's calm reaction, but it obviously hit a nerve with him somewhere if he's petty enough to do that.
Well, at least he got Gweny and Chris on his side.

Did he really do it then? For someone who was playing it mature and open minded it's actually very petty and pathetic...
Oh and I like how Noel has a smart answer to any situation ;D

Well it's a little narrow minded and all but that won't be a first for noel... Anyway I like the idea of having Rock Festivals and if they transform in hip hop festivals as the charts have I'm not interested in those festivals anymore... I'm not about having a rock/hip hop war but I don't enjoy hip hop so if rock events become hip hop events, I'm sorry but it's not working out for me...

Hip-hop's place is on the Jazz World Stage. Compare the line-ups on the two stages. I'm not suggesting that the Pyramid Stage is chock-full to capacity with top notch guitar bands, but on there Jay-Z sticks out like a sore thumb.

What the fuck is wrong with the writer of that article? It's not fucking smart at all.
Oasis and Noel himself are huge in England. Glastonbury gets a lot of Rock fans, and obviously less Rap fans, even with Jay Z there this year. Play the odds, there'll be a shit ton of people who like Oasis. He does something like that and he could very well get booed. He probably won't, but I hope he does. Serve that fucker right.

So were allowed rock/dance/trip hop/soul/blues/jazz and all the rest at glasto...but not hip hop?
Theres been loads of massive acts at glasto over the years that had no guitars in sight. Orbital drew one of the biggest crowds of the 90s.

Jay-Z isn't an act that appeals to the typical Glastonbury audience. Ergo, he shouldn't be headlining the fucking Pyramid Stage.
It's simple logic, really.

SO!!!!
If you want a rock festival, go to leeds/reading. If you want to go and have an eclectic array of bands/artists, then go to Glasto.
I don't see why everyone is moaning. Typical fuckin British. Its not as if he's the only act on. Im sure theres plenty of other acts on at the same time.

It's the principle, damn it.
Seriously though, if we let Eavis get away with it then next year's line-up will be even worse than this years. Kate Nash, James Blunt, The Hoosiers, The Feeling, Shakin' Stevens, Neil Diamond, John Mayer, Crowded House - all of them playing the fucking main stage.
Eclectic, pah. 'Eclectic' is, in this case, just a poor substitute for 'appalling'.

Noel's 100% right. He is in the business don't forget. So old Jay-Z is just making it worse for himself.

'Eclectic' is, in this case, just a poor substitute for 'appalling'. Supersonic is right....finally It could easily start a trend. Now I don't really give a fuck because im in the US and have never been to Glasto so it doesnt affect me. Although I do envy the Brits having these great big rock festivals - Glasto, T in the Park, etc etc. British culture just seems more unified, together, and special compared to its American counterpart. But I digress. Look at the US - Rap and Hip Hop owns the music industry, and has done for the entire decade, pretty much. You can't go to ANY college party any where without rap and ONLY rap being played. There are more rap stations than rock on radio in big cities. Rap is every where. It sucks. UK seemed to have had its rap phase about 5 years ago, but it looks like they got over it. While in the US there's just no end to this shit. Thus, by allowing Jay Z to headline a major festival, which is primarily only for rock, it: 1.) Pushes rock to the backstage as rap takes center stage, and in a ROCK festival it looks REALLY bad 2.) Runs the risk of setting a trend and letting rap take over again in the UK, like it has done in the US, which would... 2a.) Limit our favorite bands like OASIS on the radio and the like 2b.) More significantly a huge increase in rap would inhibit the chances of new rock bands being able to make the break through ^Rather severe consequences, don't you think?

Well, that was interesting. First he says people who draw lines between different kinds of music are racist, and then he goes on to say that hip hop is poetry and an artform. mmmm
And that interviewer is a total idiot

What the hell ever happened to celebrating individual cultures for what they were?
Jay is being completly blind in this aspect. He calls "racist" and "ignorant", yet he wants everything to meld together into one huge melting pot. There would then be NO culture whatsoever.
Don't pretend to be color blind, people. There are whites, blacks, asians, and latinos in the world, with their own unique and appealing cultures. Don't try and pass of some sort of message of peace and love by wanting to create a huge cesspool of a one world order, where no one is different. Celebrate your differences, shout them out to the world! They are what make us unique and special as human beings.
Jay Z isn't seeing this, I guess.

He just opened his show with Wonderwall. I've got to admit, I found that quite funny. You've got to admire his audacity. Nonetheless, he's still a prize c*nt, and his music is shite.
