I wasn't gonna make this a poll but I figured what the hell. I'm wondering with this whole new sound, if they'll finally bring back some of those heavy licks from the 90's. For the most part, the solos have been so boring and uninspired since BHN...so I'm really hoping this record starts a new trend. Just lookin for what everyone else thinks will happen

Glad people are thinking like me! I love DBTT, but it is so DRY sometimes, not boring, just kind of dull and plain. I would love, not just solos, but the whole BHN era arrogance and ambition. They got bashed for it, but BHN was their most ambitious album, and my favorite.

The energy of Be Here Now with the psychedelic parts of SOTSOG. So like mix of Its Getting Better Man! and Gas Panic!

They got bashed for it, but BHN was their most ambitious album, and my favorite. Me too... the debut of D'You Know What I Mean? on MTV was the most exciting 7 minutes of my life as a music fan. I've bought every Oasis record on the day of release and I still remember how exciting the arrogance and ambition were during the Be Here Now times... Just a sliver of that vibe would be amazing.... unfortunately Noel-sung songs and Dave Sardy production won't allow for that to happen... This new record will not sound young and exciting like the first 3 records... it's a matter of production and the higher level of musicianship, which makes everything sound unadventurous since the new guys have stepped in... Hope they surprise me though.

I don't think it's a matter of being unable to! I have no doubt noel could write something like that if he wanted.
I believe he has been consciously trying to keep things very simple for the past three records, as evidenced by the quote "I think ever since SOTSOG we have been trying to prove a point of just drums, bass, guitar, and vocals, nothing fancy." And when he says "I want to make an absolutely fucking colossal record- like literally two orchestras," i believe he could do it.

I really hope a mix of BHN, SOTSOG & DBTT. It would be REALLY colossal.

I wonder how many singles this album will have. Probably 3 or 4.

4 singles, please. And NEW B-sides, not the live versions of classics.

I totally agree with you all, gas panic and dyou know what i mean are easily my favourite oasis songs. Something a bit darker and more clever like that would be awesome, rather than dumb gay pop (lyla) and monotone headache ripoff music (mucky fingers). I don't understand the raving reviews for DBTT, I really don't like it. It is so dull and so is Srady's production! Remember how happy most of the people on this forum were when he was announced as new producer, what the hell? Get Owen Morris or whatever his name is back please! Be here now is where it's at!

I only like two songs on it, and I think it's hugely bloated. I wouldn't mind some of the DYKWIM? sound on the new album though, as I think that's the only song on BHN where they got the big guitar approach right.

Interesting... so you don't even like DGA or It's Getting Better man That's right. I've never been able to get into this album, it is too monotonous for me.

That would have been quite interesting, dyou think they might of demoed it for the first two album sessions in those styles cos I saw a clip of them playing it on youtube in 1992 (it's really good) want a link?

I think Whatever and AATW get compared to often for their own good... their both amazing songs in their own right, but they are also quite different, and i think somehow AATW has gotten an unfair treatment due to this comparison Just some thoughts...

I saw a clip of that a while back, don't know if it was the full thing..and yeah, it probably was demoed, there were a lot of tracks for the 2nd and third albums kicking around before DM came out I think.
