Is Step Out written by Noel or is it a cover? I tend to get it confused with Hey Hey My My since both are on FTM I believe. I know Hey Hey My My is indeed a cover though.
So did Noel write Step Out? Is it a genuine Oasis song? Either way, it's a proper tune.

it's an "original" song with a HUGE ripoff of stevie wonder's "uptight." you'll hear it immediately. that's why they put a certain stevland morris on the songwriting credits.
"hey hey my my" is a song by neil young. there's actually another version by neil young called "my my hey hey." one's acoustic, one's electric. you can find both on the record "rust never sleeps."

The chorus is a total rip off of Stevie Wonder's Uptight(Everything's Alright), which is also a brilliant tune.

Yeah, it should've been on WTSMG, but before the release Noel said in an interview that the song was a total ripoff of "Uptight" and "Rosalie” (Thin Lizzy). Stewie Wonder was told about it, and Noel had no problem to insert new credits (as he did for "Hello"), but the royalties which were claimed were way too high to keep it on the record. They scrapped off the song from the record, and eventually put it in the DLBIA single as a b-side.
