Both songs sound great. Definitely looking forward to the new album. Now if only Oasis would release a single.

good lyrics and great production,e no is definitely a big influence on this album. It's better than violet hill. I don't know what it is but Martin's voice gets on my nerves. it was great on parachutes and AROBTTH but he sings way too much on X&Y and now I think he's trying to sing in the same way as he did on X&Y. X&Y was a big let down for me and I won't hurry to buy this new album, I'll download it and decide if it's worth my money Agree with you here. I've read mixed reviews about this song, but i really like it. (Part of me is happy that Coldplay's first 2 songs (VH and VLV) have gotten mediocre reviews by the public because I want this to be Oasis's year, just like 2005 and every other time Oasis release an album), but this song is golden. I also do want both albums to be class, because that means more class songs for me to enjoy lol, but i of course wantOasis to be more successful. They deseve it. Colplday can't seem to do any wrong, evena fter releasing the dud that was X+Y, while Oasis have to continually prove themeselves. This song does indeed show Chris Martins lyrical prowess, though. It's fantastic. Oh, and the people who have called STC and other Oasis songs, but like this Coldplay song, please fuck off right now. This song is more cliched than STC. In fact, the cliched aspect may hurt Coldlplay with regards to this song - it's been done many times in the same style (The Streets "Turn the Page" iis a good example of a similar concept).

This song is more cliched than STC. Are you a fucking mentalist? Show me a song made recently wondering if youre dead and how do you know if your dreaming? On the other hand, there's many songs that are about war, and falling empires, etc etc, and espcially how he uses the strings for emphasis - its very cliched. STC is also more thought provoking.

First of all, you're over-simplifying. That one line of Stop The Clocks is not representative of the song's 'meaning' any more than those in the verses. Who's to say what it's about other than Noel himself? Also, although the song's concept might seem more 'thought-provoking', the presentation of that concept certainly isn't. The lyrics to Stop The Clocks - in all honesty - are embarrassingly poor for a songwriter of Noel's standard.

I'm trying to be openminded but seriously I think it's crap Yeah, I'm backing off of my strong opinion now. I still like it, but after several more listens, it's not that great. The Scientist is still their best song, hands down.

I have great respect for Coldplay ,,, likem alot, i liked violet hill, and when i heard the opinions of VLV i though it was gonna be magnificent,, so i was a bit disappointed, specially in my first listens ( the first few seconds of the first listen i though was listening to ABBA : ![:))](//storage.proboards.com/1258801/images/Ngp_QMb1bVCrnCbSfO6p.gif) Then I though it has great lyrics and that is not a bad song... but is far from great.. My favorite so far is Lost? amazing lyrics, great melody ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

This song is more cliched than STC. Are you a fucking mentalist? You're an idiot. The entire song is a cliche. The song is built on a cliche "Seas would rise when i gave the word" "Sleep alone" "Roll the dice" "Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes" "Listen as the crowd would sing" "Walls were closed on me" "Bells are ringing" "Roman Catholic choirs are singing" etc Those are ALL cliches. "Lock the box and leave it all behind on the back seat of my mind" is NOT a cliche You're the mentalist

You may not like the song, but the lyrics to STC to me seem almost unquestionably great, and beyond criticism.
"It's about, a dream I had one night. It's wondering about if you were dead, how would you know you were actually dead, how would you know you were actually alive. When you go to bed and you dream dreams... if you never woke up, how would you know? Maybe we're all just dreaming now."
