The ONLY Oasis instrumental I REALLY like is I Can See It Now. Ugh, once again Oasis left another top tune off an album. The instruments work well together. I'm no music expert, so I don't THINK this, rather it's what it sounds like to me, but it seems like their's two different "paths" of the instrumental, if you will. I say this because at 2.30 those two "paths" collide, and the song explodes. If I lost you with the "paths" surely you know what I'm talking about with respect to the song "exploding." It's similar to how It's Getting Better Man on BHN explodes. But even more similar to Love Like a Bomb on DBTT. [LLAB is considered by a few as being filler - and it initially sounds like filler - average but boring. But when the piano comes in, around Liam's La-Las, the song really does explode. Best part, and makes it such a beautiful spring-like song, that it's in the top 3 fav for me off that album. ] But I digress, ICSIN doesn't need saving by that "explosion" like the other two tunes do because it's already good, but it that propels it from good to amazing in my opinion. When I had it for the first time, I thought - it has so much potential - why not write and add lyrics, make it a 'proper' song/track, and release it on an album. Didn't take me long that you can't really write anything over that kind of melody. And I appreciate it as an instrumental, so who cares. But why oh why wasn't in released on an album!!!! ?

Yeah, it's a great song for sure. But I guess they didn't want two versions of Mucky Fingers on the same album.

My fave song and some of my fave songs are instrumentals. Word.

Yeah, it's a good song. It got the same style of the other Don't Believe The Truth tracks, so I could see it on the album for sure. You can get it on the Japanese version of Don't Believe The Truth, Headshrinker.
When it comes to Oasis instrumentals though, I tend to like Fuckin' In The Bushes more than this. Snakebite and The Cage are also good instrumentals. Their worst, at least for me, is A Quick Peep. That was a huge mistake to have that included on Heathen Chemistry.

I Can See It Now is really good, though I think nothing will top The Swamp Song. They really should use it as concert opener again.

It's cool that they did it live as an opener too. Wish they did the same thing with Fuckin' In The Bushes. And llam, that's a very interesting thought about I Can See It Now, really is Mucky Fingers from the Death In Vegas session. The guitar riff sound similar on both songs.

What about the instrumental on the Borderline Session bootleg. I haven't listened to it in awhile but I remember it being pretty good. I don't think it had a name though.
I Can See It Now is one of the best things Oasis has done in the past few years. It would be awesome to start a show with. I am sick of Fuckin in the Bushes. The band don't even play it . I love watching There and Then with the Swamp Song opening. Noel got the crowd fired up and then Liam comes in and rips it. ICSIN would be perfect for this stage of Oasis.

You're right about the Swamp Song. I have a gig from Cardiff '96, where they started with the Swamp Song, and Liam comes in the middle of the song and shouts out Are Ye Madferrit!!!!, and the song continues. That's brilliant, man! As for Can You See It Now for an opener, don't you think it is a little slow for that? Not really a song to get the crowd pumped, if you know what I mean?

I'm on the complete opposite side of virtually everyone in here. I personally think ICSIN sounds like a lazy pop/rock instrumental. It sounds like Noel found a catchy riff and just kept playing it while adding and subtracting other instruments. It just seems more like a lazy studio jam to me than a top instrumental, but to each his own. Cause then again The Cage is by far my favorite instrumental. That's as close as Noel's ever gotten to making a Pink Floyd song and it's just awesome IMO...spacey, mellow, hynotizing...
1. The Cage 2. FITB 3. Swamp Song 4. A Quick Peep 5. ICSIN

While I won't go as far as saying it's one of the worst tracks I've ever heard, it definitely deserved to be a b-side. I don't think this song explodes. The whole time it feels like there should be a melody that kicks in, but it doesn't.

How does anyone know its Mucky Fingers from the DIV sessions? Was it mentioned in an interview? There are no credits on the Japanese version of DBTT so is this just a theory because it sounds similar or is it actually based on any evidence?

it's not a theory, it's a fact. any competent listener can see it's mucky fingers - the ending really gives it away if you were unsure before that (you shouldn't have been)
