I was just looking thru old stuff that I had downloaded onto CD's around Oct. 2001 and came across a song called Purple Parallelogram.
I remember that Even Dando had mentioned that he had written a song with this title with Noel G sometime in the late 90's and was wondering if it had ever been released, completed, or even seen the light of day.
The version I have is about 2:20 long, poppy with a twangy/rubber soul feel to it.
I would love if someone could shed me some light on this recording. I suspect it may be a fake but if it is legit then I would be happy to share.

Did a quick search and found out that it is... a rockin' little pop song, written by Noel Gallagher from Oasis and Evan Dando from The Lemonheads. According to Dando, speaking around the time of the release of Definitely Maybe: "We met about a month ago and hit it off, then last night we collided in Paris. We'd both been playing the Lowlands festival in Holland this weekend and we wrote a song together called 'Purple Parallelogram.'" Gallagher later ordered Evan Dando to remove a collaboration with the Oasis guitarist, titled "Purple Parallelogram," from the Lemonheads' new album Car Button Cloth (1996).
Wikipedia states that... This song was written with Lemonheads front man Evan Dando. The problem was that Noel released it first as Roll With It. Evans version is called Purple Parallelogram.

I've had it for years, and I love it. I'm a huge lemonheads fan and obviously oasis is my favorite band, so i was bound to love it. Gonna make it EAAASSSSSAYYYYY. love that tune - i always wondered if evan was mad that noel released roll with it first....

thanks mercury for helping clear that up for me...but listening to them back to back I don't see how PP and Roll with It are the same song...similiar melodies I suppose but certainly not the same?

Yeah it's true. If you look hard enough, there's even a version of Noel singing it on an acoustic guitar from 1996 about somewhere.

Am I right in remembering that the acoustic version was recorded backstage at a festival?

But do people think it is the same song as Roll With It... at first I didn't think so...but now, esp. listening to Noel's acoustic I kind of hear the similiarities...

Thanks for posting!
And so far, the forum hasn't been closed down, Noel hasn't split the band and nobody has been struck down by a gypsy curse....

Thanks for the uploads - it's a catchy little number!
Listening to that I can't help thinking how much freshness, fun and spark there was in Noel's songwriting back then.
Ok, so it might not be a classic but there is something about his way of writing back then that was just magical.
Bonehead once described how songs would just 'pour out' of Noel and you can see what he means.

Here's the lyrics.
PURPLE PARALLELLAGRAM (E.Dando/N.Gallagher) Purple parallellagram I got in Amsterdam Made me dream a dream I didn't understand Thought I heard you say that you're so proud of it Do you wanna dance with me?
The best bit's the first part The bad bit is the end Got it all backwards, but I tend to blend Why'd you have to say that you're so proud of it Do you wanna dance with me?
Gonna make it easy Gonna take it easy Zipped up jacket Really cost a packet Still you wanna dance with me
Purple parallellagram I got in Amsterdam Made me dream a dream I didn't understand Thought I heard you say that you're so proud of it Do you wanna dance with me?
I got a paper cut Pictures of Gwendolyn Got it all backwards, but I tend to blend Why'd you have to say you're so proud of it Do you wanna dance with me
Gonna make it easy Gonna take it easy I'm not the same But I make all pain Now you gotta dance with me
Gonna make it easy Gonna take it easy
Purple parallellagram I got in Amsterdam Made me dream a dream I didn't understand Why'd you have to say that you're so proud of it Do you wanna dance with me? Do you wanna dance with me? Now you gotta dance with me Now you gotta dance with me
