Jilliam, you might wanna check a small bar called Red Rock on Sunset Blvd. When I went out there, me and my friends went there cause it was the least "LA-looking" place on the strip. Anyway, behind the bar was a framed NME cover signed by the band. It looked to be from back during the Be Here Now tour though. Just a thought... you probably know more about the hangouts than I do...

What news ? You mean news such as the boys said the album is gonna be huge ? That they're proud of the new album ? That Liam is like in the DVD but different than in magazines ? Melodic sounds good to me. That's what oasis albums of late have been missing good melodic songs you could actually hum to. To me melody was the big oasis strength of the first two or maybe 3 albums. I remember when Mike Flowers did a cheesy lounge cover of wonderwall Noel only allowed it as he said it showed how good the melody was- a song with a good melody sounds good with electric guitars or claranets. This version actually got to number 2!
In the end its the tune that counts. you can dress up an average song with good production and make it sound OK which is what 99% of the songs in the charts are. Its the 1% which are special.

Melody also helps the listener remember and identify music. In most cases, it is the melody of a song that is the most memorable part.
Far more encouraged by this news than all the stuff about "groove" and psychedellic.
Now lets hope they make it BIG and very electric sounding as well, not folksy and acoustic.
