No real surprise. The Sun and XFM have both proved to be less than reliable in the past and have done themselves proud again.

I've heard talk about it being set in a 90's disco and that the track was mimed to by some Japanese people (possibly lookalikes of the band), but I'm not really certain of that yet. The main thing is that the song was the original version.

Perhaps the DVD will have a version or two of STC on it with some studio footage. That would keep it from disrupting the flow of the greatest hits tracklist..

So,let me try to get this: the idea to promote the best of is to launch a video to MTV with some Japanese people miming the band... No new tracks, no new acquiesce... I confess I'm surprised, they really don't seem to be fond of this GH compilation

I feel like this is all being done with some "smart-assness" (excuse my lack of vocabulary) to spite the fact that this album is even being released.

From what people have been saying on inet, it was massive waste of time.
Firstly, they were divided into groups with all the oriental people getting filmed and the caucasian people not. Then all they had to do was sing to the song over and over again.
They were promised snacks and refreshments, all they got were custard creams, lol!
And for their trouble, they got photocopied autographs of the band.

This is really sad. Sorry to hear it was such a miserable experience for most. The overwhelming feeling I'm getting from this whole fiasco is that the band could really care less about this album, and rightfully so in some respects, but they can't just assume that they can phone this in and keep their fans around long enough to see them to their next true studio effort. Still, I find it really hilarious that STC won't apparently be on this album, and can't wait to hear the explanation.

*sigh* looks like the band is alienating A LOT of their fans on this board... (not me though)
not that they give a shit...
no new material, 1,2 songs, even for a "best of" , which has become a requisite for all best of packages released these days...
they can't even be arsed to rerecord a new mix , or show up for a new video, even if it is a recycled b-side...
no new record deal, and it probably will never come.... what label would be crazy enough to sign them to a deal, even one only 2-3 discs deep, after watching this fiasco?
I think Liam is still ready to roll, but he certainly doesn't have the resolve to do it by himself, and Noel just can't be arsed anymore.
It's OVER people.

New film coming out, bonus DVD with STC, a few interviews and such coming soon... Yeah, only a guaranteed figure of at least 2 million sales worldwide, and that's with Sony not giving a fuck. What record company would want that as a foundation? 'Noel Gallagher in grumpiness shocker...' What am I looking for? Oh, yes, here we are....

What record company would want that as a foundation? 'Noel Gallagher in grumpiness shocker...' What am I looking for? Oh, yes, here we are.... Sorry if I irked some on here with that post (which I assumed I would) I love Oasis as much as anyone on here, no other band comes close in my opinion. They are just about the only band I listen to now. I just have a feeling that this is it. Why? Because I think Noel has had enough with the touring, the fans, the whole "look at me I'm a rock star " game. And he certainly has enough cash stacked to Jupiter to live comfortably the rest of his life and not have to worry about it. Before, it was about him writing songs, getting out on the road, because he WANTED to. Obviously I don't know what is going on inside his head, but I think now he feels more like it's a job, that it is something that he HAS to do. Is he REALLY going to want to shmooze with record executives and big-wigs to get a new deal on another label at this point. Commiting to two, maybe three records. Grumpy Noel putting up with Liam and his antics. The long days/nights in the studio. The promoting, the touring. The pressure of having to write new material as good as DBTT, now that they have raised that bar again. I don't know? It's just sad that the MTV Machine controlls what people listen to and buy these days. I think that's one of the main reasons why Noel is so disenchanted with the whole record making process now. I have a feeling that we will see a Noel solo record way down the road, though, in 7-8 years. His songs, on his terms, when he's good and ready. I think there will be a lot of experimentation and he won't give a shit if it sells only 100,000 copies. And as for this Stop The Clocks "best of" bullshit, I believe that it is just the greedy execs at Sony attempting to milk it for all it's worth. And I don't buy for ONE MINUTE that Oasis had the final say on the tracklisting. I'll buy the album for this "bonus DVD' that we are promised, but I'll just keep DM, WTSMG, and DBTT in heavy rotation in my car CD player. Those are my best-of's. If DBTT was in fact the last proper studio effort by The Greatest Band In The World, then I can live with that, because in my opinion, they went out on top. And ALSO, thanks to Oasis for a summer/fall I will NEVER FORGET back in 05. And if you don't like THIS post mono, right back at cha

The funny thing is that you seem to like DBTT which makes your "Oasis are finished" rant even funnier. If you're getting irked about Noel moaning in that MTV interview, then let me tell you now, I've heard Noel be far, far, FAR more pessimistic about the future of the band that he was then. Noel has been moaning about being on tour since the back end of the Be Here Now tour, and when you consider that fact he actually walked out of tours before then in '94 and '96 because of the rest of the band's antics, then you should realise he's not going to give up on the band on a whim.
Here's an old quote by Noel. Made over SIX YEARS ago.
"It can't go on like it is. It's either got to stop or we break up, it's as simple as that. My gut reaction? I'd love for Oasis to go on but, well, I can't see how we can. I don't know if there's ever gonna be another Oasis record. I wouldn't hold any breath-holding contests, you know what I mean?"
As for that bit about him having to "shmooze with record executives and big-wigs to get a new deal on another label", well that just won't happen. Oasis are a bnd who are at such a level, then can negotiate a new deal virtually on their terms. It's not like they are a young band looking for a big break any more.

I really believe (and really hope), that they´re not breaking up. If that would be the case, they would have allready told that to fans and they wouldn´t be against "Greatest hits" release now.
I love DBTT, and I believe they still have something great to give musically.
