when he was scoring all those goals for smell-tic, quite a few commentators said he wasnt good enough to play in the premiership aswell.

I thought he did a decent job for Man Utd, shame to see him leave the Premiership even though it was inevitable.

I don't like Celtic. I have to say I never liked Henke until he came to Barcelona.

a true great having now played for the two most important teams in the world celtic and man utd and you say americans are arrogant? to me they are the most important teams. One being the team i support and the other the team with the greatest fans in the world. The fact that they aren't the most important to you doesn't mean they aren't to me.

Which fans are the greatest ones in the world then? The ones who cant cope with people having a different religion to them or the ones who only started supporting the team when they started winning things?

ooo this thread has just got a bit tasty ;D
i have issues about fans of the major clubs being called the best in the world because its hard to judge. I mean looking at celtic and rangers - would they still have such amazing fans if they'd spent the last 30 years in the scottish division 1? success breeds loyalty
anyhow, Larsson has been a good player for United although he hasnt quite provided the goals people expected. just looking at his stats - 13 games, 3 goals. in the premiership alone - 7 games, 1 goal. Not exactly stunning, especially considering United's goal scoring form overall. but still decent
plus he had a superb goal wrongly ruled offside.
probably a very good player, but not up there in the legends category for me.

OK 2 points here: Ross greatest fans in the word? you're having a laugh! 10 years ago when Celtic couldn't buy a trophy their average gate was about 15,000, now they have over 60,000 season ticket holders. Their fans dissapear faster then snow offa dyke when things aren't going well. Plus have a wee visit to Celtic Park wearing the oppositions teams colours and you'll see how tolerant their fans are DS: yes Larrson hasn't scored then many in his spell at United, but you have to remember that he's 35 now! How many 35 year ols forwards are still plying their trade at one of the top clubs in europe? Not many! ;D I have to say that Larrson is one of the best forwards I've seen play in the flesh, he's got it all.

10 years ago when Celtic couldn't buy a trophy their average gate was about 15,000, . seriously?? in the mid 90's their gate was that low?? to be honest im not a big follower of scottish football and if i do take interest it is more on the rangers side of it (McCoist was a legend! hehe. Wheel out Super Al) But i cant remember the attendances from back then and am amazed to hear that! as for Larsson - yeah i take your point about him being 35 - although thats still younger than you isnt it Globey boy? ;D personally i do see age as just a number and i think its daft when clubs adopt policies of only giving 1 year contracts to over 30's players. When you consider Henry, Lampard and Drogba are all approaching 30 soon, it would be absolutely retarded for their clubs to just give them 1 year contracts, and obviously they wont.

When you consider Henry, Lampard and Drogba are all approaching 30 soon, it would be absolutely retarded for their clubs to just give them 1 year contracts, and obviously they wont. well in the early 90's they started "boycotting" games to try and get rid of the board. think it was about 94 a canadian guy bought the club over, put some money into the club and they all came back. best fans in the world my arse. as for rangers, they are just as bad. in the 80's, they went through a spell of not wining a trophy for about 10 years and they were geting crowds of about 5000 at some games. same thing happened - they started having success again and suprise suprise they all came back too! my own club was relegated in 1995 for the first time in about 40 years. our average home attendance only dropped by about 500 the following season, dont think that would happen at celtic park somehow if the same thing happened to them... its easy supporting a massive club like celtic, rangers on manchester united, to me the best fans in the world are the guys who go week-in week-out to all the lower league teams who know they are never gonna win anything.

i wasn't saying celtic fans were the best in the world due to numbers. its their passion and spirit. lets face it the best fans in the world are irish and scottish and celtic have both.

Re : Best fans in the world Seville 2003 hey Dom, whats the figure on how many Celtic fans were in Seville now? coz it started at about 30,000, it keeps getting bigger everytime I speak to a Tim - last time I heard it was about 150,000! Wonder if the residents of Seville have finally manged to clean up all the discarded Buckfast bottles, and clean all the piss out of their back gardens?!
