Well guys, this WC is ending (  ) Now... Choose 11 players in order to make an ALL-STAR team. And btw choose the players who are playing better, not the players you prefer (for example Ronaldinho is number 1 for me, but he's not in my team because he was very disappointing in this WC). My starting line-up (4 - 4 - 2): Buffon (Italy) Zambrotta (Italy) Cannavaro (Italy) Ayala (Argentina) Lahm (Germany) Ribery (France) Maxi Rodriguez (Argentina) Zidane (France) J. Buffon (Italy) Maxi Rodriguez (Argentina) J. Cole (England) Speak your mind, and btw, critics are welcome Alright. The choices I left are the ones I don't quite get. I haven't seen Rodriguez or Cole except for his goal against Sweden. And Buffon hasn't been really challenged. |

Cole had a bright start, but faded as the tournament went on... very poor against Portugal, didn't cover back at all
Ricardo I wouldn't put in there either, he's been a liability barring the penalties against England (and credit where due he did well on them)....
Don't know who for sure I'd put in goals though, Lehmann's been solid... but I'm an arsenal fan, so a hint of bias!!

But every time he has been, he has been just perfect. Very good in coming out of goal in case of corner and in 1vs1 against strikers. And in the matches against Czech Rep. and Ukraine he made several brilliant saves. He definitely is a goalie who gives security to his team-mates. This is why I put him in. Rodriguez: a hard working player in the midfield, tecnically talented, very dangerous when he comes near the opponents'goal... This is why he scored 3 goals, and between them the extraordinary one against Mexico. One of the biggest surprises in this WC imo... Cole: the most difficult choice to me.... He started very well but then I don't know what happened to him. Anyway one of the best players of England, he'd deserve to be in my team just because he scored the most beautiful goal of this WC. |
