6 months on, the dust and excitment has settled, lets all try to find a place for DBTT in respect to all the other albums. The rush of the first month of the album is way gone now, so we should be able to get a more realistic account on how this album has done for us Oasis fans.
For me:
1.) Def. Maybe: With songs such as Live Forever, Slide Away, and Rock 'n Roll star, this deserves to be top, quality debut
2.) Don't Believe The Truth: Yes, this has jumped up a place for me (orginally had this at #3). Lyla, GGTIA, TIOBI, LLAB and KTDA are amazing imo
3.) What's The Story: Why i moved this down is b/c i realized Oasis needed to change-and they did in the way of DBTT. Of course songs such as Wonderwall and DLBIA will always rule, but when i have this on in the car now i always feel the urge to put in DBTT and i almost always do...
4.) Be Here Now: Really like this album too....lyrics arnt that good or serious if you will, its more of a "fun" album...
5.) Heathen Chemistry: Great ballads on this one-SCYHO, LBL etc, if it wasnt for the weaker songs this would easily be above BHN
6.) Standing on the Shoulders of Giants: Not as bad as people make out to be, but the worst Oasis album imo by far. Some good moments tho-Where did it all go wrong, Sunday Morning Call, Gas Panic and even Roll Over --
if i was to include the Master Plan in there it would prob place between What's The Story and BHN
ya gotta love Oasis....hope they release a new album by 2007 at the latest...best band in the world by far
Oasis fan since 1996/1997

So... 1 DM 2 MG 3 tie BHN and DBTT 4 SOTSOG 5 HC

1st - Morning Glory, I like Definitley Maybe more as a rock album, but you cannot argue with the sheer quality offered by Morning Glory, apart from the two instrumentals, not a single duff second on the album, features Don't Look Back in Anger, Some Might Say, Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova, 4 of their best songs, aswell as classics such as Cast No Shadow, Morning Glory and Roll With It, and I've not even mentioned She's Electric, one of the most popular songs of the 90's, just a great album and a great celebration of its times.
2nd - Definitley Maybe: Features the greatest Oasis song ever IMO, infact, one of THE best songs by anyone ever in Live Forever, a song that befits its name, also features the likes of Supersonic, Cigs and Alc etc. Makes you feel good when you listen to it, and in terms of cultural importance its such a vital album, coming after grunge and making British Music Cool again. Over 11 years since its release and it still sounds fresh, important and best of all, QUALITY!
3rd - Be Here Now: Toughie, but regardless of the over production etc, its got some corking tunes on there, Stand By Me and Don't Go Away remain two of Liams best vocals IMO, D'You Know What I Mean's a superb rock song, and I personally love I Hope I Think I Know and It's Gettin Better Man (although the last 2 minutes of that song is unneccessary) All Around The World aswell, just a great album, but it was the wrong album at the wrong time, and didn't fit in with the Oasis everybody seemed to want after Morning Glory. Still superb and sounds good to this day for me.
4th - Don't Believe The Truth: Great return to form, several months on, the only songs that I don't listen to much anymore are Love Like A Bomb and Meaning of Soul, both of which are solid tunes. All Noel's vocals are superb as is Lyla and Let There Be Love, whilst nowhere near the quality of Oasis BEST ballads is still great. The Andy and Gem songs make the album for me though, quality album from track 1 through to 11.
5th - Heathen Chemistry: Quite a poor album overall, but the 3 lead singles which are easily among Oasis best work and then Born On A Different Cloud more than make up for that.
6h - SOTSOG: Never did it for me, Where Did It All Go Wrong, Go Let It Out and Gas Panic are good tunes, but what about the rest??? The inclusion of Lets All Make Belieive in place of say, PYMWYMI would've changed my opinion perhaps.
If we're classing The Masterplan aswell then that shoots up into 3rd position.

I agree that the singles form HC are really really strong but the rest of the album comes up a tad short. So how can it be better than Standing which I believe to be a good listen almost all the way through even if it has some really bad lyrics in places and a a couple weaker songs... As a whole it really does it for me as a good listen all the way through. HC can't do that despite its great singles.

I'm just going to start by saying that my ranking isn't by what CD I think is better but by which CD I enjoy listening to the most!!!! (probably means the samething though?) 1) Don't Believe The Truth 2) Whats The Story: Morning Glory 3) Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants 4) Be Here Now 5) Heathens Chemistry 6) Definately Maybe 7) Masterplan
I don't know why but definately maybe has always been the CD that I don't get all the way through on. I love RRS, LF, SS, Slide A and Columbia! But I usually skip some of the other songs.

Definitely Maybe - The Holy Grail (hardly ever skip a song ever)
DBTT-Probably the best album for the time of my life (36 years young) Very consistent with different sounding songs. Just needs a tad bit more electric guitars.
WTSMG- The one that even casual Oasis fans in the U.S (and the world for that matter) own. Has the universally known singles but the album as a whole has some slips (She's Electric).
HC-Love the singles and the other songs stand up unlike for other people. I like HIABP, full rock out and PAITM is always on my 'most underrated songs by Oasis list'. It does have my least fave Oasis song in FON.
BHN vs. SOTSOG----This has always been tough.
BHN has the better overall individual songs, but it is always a tough decision to decide to sit for 77 minutes and hear some songs back to back that won't end and that are totally overproduced with guitars that drown everything.
SOTSOG has a great 1-2 punch and if WFL had been done like it sounds live on FTM with audible rythym guitar, a 1-2-3 punch to start. PYMWYMI is not that good and L J isn't AS BAD as some say even w/ the lyrics. I quite like ICSAL and just think that two meloncholy Noel sung songs back to back was not a good idea.
I have many times thought that THE SONGS available for SOTSOG were better than BHN but the arrangement of the songs and choices of what was a B side vs. A side were bad. This is how I re-did SOTSOG for a single CD burn .
FITB GLIO WFL (live version from FTM) Carry Us All LAMB One Way Road Gas Panic WDIAGW ICSAL SMC RIO
If they had done that (making WFL sound like FTM version) then that album would be ahead of HC.
When I play BHN and I just want to have a good listen for a bit before I go out it's usually:
DYKWIM SBM IHITIK TGITDS FIO DGA IGBM AATW
SO........w/ all my yapping I still can't decide if BHN or SOTSOG is 5th and one 6th.
I never 'judged' Masterplan but if it was an album than it would be 4th.

1.(What's The Story)Morning Glory? -My first Oasis album and still my favorite. It's not as Rock as Def Maybe or Be Here Now but it has this special feeling that just makes it so awesome.I'll never get tired of listening to this baby.
2.Def Maybe -Needless to one of the greatest albums of the 90s.A classic but I think some of the songs are better live.
3.DBTT -A definite return to form for the lads.Three great singles(Though I have grown bored of Lyla)and the most consistent album since (WTS)MG?
4.The Masterplan -Acquiesce.The Masterplan.Need I say more?Got alot of great gems(Rockin' Chair,Fade Away,It's Good To be Free,Stay Young)but I sometimes skip some songs like Underneath The Sky.
5.Be Here Now -It's great. My favorite Oasis opener(DYKWIM?)followed by My Big Mouth which is absolute mega.Has some faults though(Magic Pie,Girl In the dirty shirt)but Stand By Me,AATW,and Fade-In-Out make up for those and then some!
6.Heathen Chemistry -I guess it sounds alot like Morning Glory is the reason I like it.It has some nice tunes(SCYHO,LBL,The Hindu Times)but has more faults then other Oasis albums.
7.SotSoG -Two great openers but the rest somewhat fall short.

Def Maybe - Songs like Live Forever, RnR Star, Columbia, Supersonic, Slide Away and Married with Children are the best Oasis ever did. They just had that raw attitude about them that they lost completely on Morning Glory. Rock n Roll at its finest on this album.
Morning Glory- has to be 2nd. Wonderwall, Champagne, Swamp Song, Morning Glory, DLBIA and Hello... you can't go wrong. This album had more anthems than DM, but lacks the raw energy and excitement that DM has.
Be Here Now- I've always loved this album, at times even more than Def Maybe. Fade In-Out, Magic Pie and DYKWIM are all amazing. All Around the World is one of my favorite songs of all time. The whole album is just plain mega.
DBTT- Not better than BHN, but much better than SOTSOG. Easy to listen all the way through. Songs like GGTIA, Mucky Fingers, and TIOBI sell it for me.
SOTSOG- I Love Gas Panic and Go Let it Out. Plus, it has Fucking in the Bushes on it... one of my favorite Oasis tracks.
HC- Meh. Hindu Times isn't bad I guess. Really never listen to it.
*if we count The Masterplan, it would go 3rd above DBTT. Love The Masterplan... Headshrinker, Aquiesce and The Masterplan can match the best on any of the CDs.

01. (What's The Story) Morning Glory? 02. Definitely Maybe 03. Don't Believe The Truth 04. Be Here Now 05. Heathen Chemistry 06. Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants
IMO you can't count The Masterplan as it's a compilation - same reason you souldn't count Familiar To Millions.
