double-platinum refers to the sales they've had in the UK. In the UK platinum is for 300.000 copies sold, so they have sold over 600.000 copies in the UK. We still have no confirmation about worldwide sales numbers for DBTT but I guess it's around 2-3 million... Let There Be Love will boost those sales if it's properly promoted

i dont think let there be love will do much damage, its slow, and was not played on tour, if this is where DBTT stands, it was a failure, not even a million copies in Britain so far? Worldwide is not gonna help, i had high hopes for this album, it was publicized way more than HC, so it better do better

HC was eventually triple platinum in the UK and I bet DBTT will eventually be as well. The one place DBTT bombed was Australia... HC was awarded for sales of a million there and DBTT has sold like 1/4 of that there. However in Japan the reverse is true and DBTT has sold like mad there and went no.1....................

I believe DBTT will eventually pass HC based on word of mouth and critics/reviews over the years.
As far as pure radio friendly singles SCYHO was big for HC in the UK anyway.
DBTT is an album I feel that will continue to sell as years go by.

I reckon it will center around 5 million copies. Why not 6 even? I think that nowadays that's Oasis potential - 6 or 7 million copies. Which is great, I think.

When ur kids ask you about oasis what you gonna say about dbtt? "it was a failure"? Fuck how much it sold, dbtt was a creative triumpth. DONT EVER JUDGE AN ALBUM THROUGH RECORD SALES!!! If wtsmg had never been released and oasis released that now it woulnt sell much more than DBTT

I agree the sales numbers are not that important... especially here in America. If they sell out concerts are more important, which they do. I mean look at Jet, they are a nice band, and have surely sold over million copies of their album here in America...but they could barely sell out a high school gymnasium if they were a headline band. I have not heard anyone say DBTT is shit, everyone gives it the thumbs up. A couple of my friends, who are casual fans say DBTT is the only album they will listen to the whole way through without skipping songs. That says a lot. Dbtt is not Oasis best album, but it might be their most solid.

The sales for uk are around the 800,000 mark which would make it 100 thou off triple platinum, therefor making it double platinum at present cos it ain't surpassed the required certifaction mark for the next level. It hit double platinum status in its second week according to the sun in the weeks around its release. And to be honest compared to when WTSMG was released record sales are at an all time low(As an example, Now i don't like em but Limp Bizkits Chocolate starfish album sold around 5mill in the us and 15 million worldwide Whereas there last offering sold under 120,000 in the us and Limped in worldwide(excuse the pun) at around 220,000 worldwide), what with the internet boom and illegal downloads etc....(Remeber DBTT was out on most downloads sites way before its release.) And as the other lad said don't judge albums by there record sales cos thats not what makes an album good, Just look at that James Blunt he's sold shedloads but his album is absolute cock sweat, X & Y has sold millions but i think its coldplays worst album to date. And on a side note Franz Ferdinands new lp as been heralded as a big success yet its sold knowhere near the same numbers as DBTT in the UK, US and worldwide in the same timeframe. Oasis are still one of the best bands in the world(the best for me) and also one of the biggest selling. The lads are on fine form at the mo and long may it continue.
Cheers

DBTT has sold 659,000 copies in THe uk as of last week. FAct i do have a good source What source is this from? As it seems pretty low because I remember people saying it was double platinum (600k) in the first few weeks, and it then stayed in the top 10 for ages. I agree though, sales don't matter, and DBTT is easily their best album since BHN. By the way, check out my EP at: www.cdbaby.com/gladwin
