Have you guys been noticing all the airplay that Oasis has been gettin over the promo for that North Country movie? It's all over the commercial. Who knows, if not for goal it may get oasis the grammy for this one. This movie is being touted as a serious oscar contender and movies that are nominated are usually followed by thier soundtracks.

dude that would be so awesome... i think the song is also very american friendly...
do you think that if enough people see the movie and really like the song it could be played on the radio even thought it's not gonna be a single?

I thought the deal with the soundtrack Oscar meant the song had to be specifically written for the movie...I haven't seen any evidence suggesting that that's why Noel wrote it.

That is case for Score's versus song from album. Scores are generally orchestra compositions done specifically for a movie such as background music.

I don't think this is possible. The song is not even on the soundtrack for the film. Check it out on amazon.

Incorrect. "Miss Misery" by Elliot Smith was not written for Good Will Hunting, yet it was nominated for Best Song because it was in the movie and on the soundtrack.

I don't think this is possible. The song is not even on the soundtrack for the film. Check it out on amazon. Your right one of my best buds' dad used to be the producer for "Bev.Hills 90210" for like 8yrs and has produced lots of flicks, he said that yeah, the song has to be on the soundtrack for the flick/show. And a "score" ANY tunes on a movie. Like when someone says "Im scoring a movie"that means they are selecting/editing the show/movie with music. Wether it be background music or just a song a flik/show. There is no specific genre of music.

laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast oscars winner was jorge drexler. his song, "al otro lado del rio", was written by him, and it was in "diarios de motocicleta", a movie inspired by che guevaras life and personal trip around america (south america, exactly).
and jorge is uruguayan.
