First off let me say that even though the setlist was even leaner and trimmer than ever before, without GGTIA, Songbird, Acq, BIOD, LBL, this was BY FAR the best out of the three I went to, let me tell you why.
Incredibly, the place was only I'd say half full... we were down near the front on the field (more on that later), and not too many people were in the seats... but, this was advantageous, as I thought that it gave a sort of smaller "club" feel to the gig, just a bunch of loony OOO-AAAA-SIS fans in front of the stage going nuts... and Liam and Noel I think sort of realised that only the "Hard core" fans were at this one... and the weather was fukking TOPPS...
Well, my wife and I got to spend the whole day with kalas, castle and lions... that IN ITSELF WAS WORTH THE WHOLE FUKKING TRIP. We also met a couple of cool people at a bar across the street... their names were Kevin and Nicole, I think they are signing up for L4E even as we speak!
We got in just in time for the start of Jet... same old so I wont go on about them, I think Jet is a real nice band, but as kalas pointed out, Oasis just has that certain something that Jet lacks... Oasis can do what Jet can't.
I can't really be a good judge about how Liam sounded tonite, so I'll let someone else who was at the gig who wasn't screaming EVERY SINGLE LYRIC TO EVERY SINGLE SONG LIKE WE WERE to critique his voice! My voice was totally GONE by the end of the nite.
I knew that when they skipped BOTH LLAB AND BIOD that we wern't gonna get 90 minutes... I think their set only lasted an hour, maybe an hour 10 minutes tops... but they were SPOT ON in my book...
Total and utter MADNESS at this show... me and castle and lions and kalas arms around each other, with everyone else bouncing up and down and swaying side to side shouting and screaming every lyric to every song!!!
So we were about 6 "rows", or layers of people back from the stage... halfway through I held up my DBTT cover and Liam looked over and saw me.... SOMETHING TOLD ME THAT I HAD IT IN THE BAG AT THAT POINT... Then at the end of My Generation I told Pat, "That's it... I'm making my move, even if I get my teeth knocked out getting to the front, I'm going for it... HERE I GO..."
So I began my trek to the front, showing everyone my DBTT booklet and pen, and basically telling them, "please, this is my last chance" and pointing to the booklet... and everyone was real cool about it all, they were like "go ahead, GO! GET UP THERE!" and they were all stepping aside for me, and I finally got to the front rail...
then, as Zak was doing the solo at the end of My Generation, Liam jumped off the stage and walked over to the right side, where I was... and I shit you not, my eyes began to water up as I realised what was about to happen....
he strutted on past me , and made his way like, 3-4 people over to my right, where my wife Sally and another girl had been hanging out and screaming for him all nite long... and he hugged them both! And then Sally shook his hand and didn't want to let go...
then he walked back over to me , and I held out the cover and the pen and took it and signed it... then handed it rite back to me, and stood there in front of me, clapping at me and applauding at me! and then I stuck my hand out and we clasped hands... I wanted to say something to him as he was signing my booklet, but no words came out I WAS FUKKING SHELL SHOCKED MAN... then he just quietly walked away, and I was just looking down at my booklet and everyone was patting me on the back and high-fiving me saying "you got it!" and I was just standing there going "WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!" like Ric Flair, over and over.... I think he might have recognized me from the Tweeter gig, because I was wearing the same Red Sox shirt and hat at both gigs... the whole interaction with Liam only took like 10 seconds, but that 10 seconds is what I have waited for for the last 10 YEARS.... No pic, THAT IS NEXT TIME... I do have a FEW pics of the gig (that Sally took) and the PREMEET, and will be posting those in a day or two...
And BTW -> I ALMOST didn't have a pen at ALL... I forgot my sharpie at home, and halfway through the set I saw this regular ball-point pen on the ground (guess someone dropped it), and I picked it up and put it in my pocket (just in case!!)... BOY MAN AM I GLAD I DID!!!!!!!!!! ;D
So I give this show, without a doubt, a 10 OUT OF 10
IN CLOSING, LET ME SAY THIS: BETWEEN MEETING UP WITH KALAS' CREW, AND GETTING LIAM'S AUTOGRAPH AND SHAKING HANDS WITH HIM, I AM IN FUKKING ORBIT RITE NOW, STILL NO WORD YET ON WHEN I WILL BE COMING DOWN
