The short version: Best concert I've ever been to in my entire life. Getting to be up front, barely 10 feet away from your rock n roll heroes is something everyone should experience once in their lives. Maybe it's the booze talking, but the sensation paralleled losing my virginity, or doing my first hit of acid. There are just some feelings that linger with you until they stick your ass in the ground, and 9-30-05 will be with me for a long, long time. The longer version: Setlist as usual, same as all the others this week (getting that out of the way first) Kasabian rocked. I feel bad for anyone who didn't show up early enough to see their entire show, especially since they did "Reason is Treason" first (K-I-L-L!!!, lions). Noel and Gem could be seen standing in one of the stage doors watching as Kasabian did their set, which I noticed quickly (Noel had on a green polo and Gem in his track jacket, same as he wore during the show). They both waved to me, Noel pointing me out to Gem when I noticed them and screamed in their direction. The forth pic down kind of shows where they were, and you can kind of see Gem's face towards the bottom of the doorway. We didn't watch Jet. I can't stand them anymore, so lions and I took that opportunity to have a few beers in preparation for the big show. Sorry no pics or review of them, I'm sure other people can report back on how they sounded. It sounded like the same set as MSG (Cold Hard Bitch first, Be My Girl last, Look What You've Done somewhere in the middle, and who cares about the rest of Jet's fucking songs) Now, to OASIS. The general feeling I got from the show was one of complete exhuberance by the crowd -- everyone in attendance was going wild, especially those of us in the front. I was getting humped up against the speakers (which sucks if you've got to beer-piss really bad), but by the end the euphoria kind of wiped that out. Liam and Noel got along marvelously, it seemed. Liam sounded great. Not that I could really tell from my vantage point, being too close to really hear the vox through the speakers clearly, but there were no sneers at the audio guy or any obvious foibles. Liam had the swagger on full blast, doing the usual bit with the tamborine (the guy 2 people down from me got the first one, the girl 2 people down from me got the 2nd), pinching Noel in the butt as he was exiting the stage before one of Noel's songs, and pretending to take Noel's new guitar from one of the stage crew as he came back on). The band sounded amazing, everyone was on it. Noel really went to town on BIOD, C&A, and R&R*. Lots of people threw coke bottles up on stage, most of which Liam ignored or kicked back, chastizing whoever he thought threw it. Words really can't describe how amazing this concert was. I was yelling my lungs out the entire time, being a complete ass, but noone around me seemed to care. You make a lot of friends up there, especially after a few shitty Coors. Liam pointed at me a couple times, and Noel posed for a photo (towards the end, the one with him flexing his forearm!). Seriously, he posed... he pointed at my phone, struck the pose, and held it until I gave the thumbs up. Some girl next to Lions got Noel's scarf, and they were throwing out pics and setlists afterwards, but the stage crew were trying hard to shoo us off. I managed to pass my DBTT album cover with silver sharpie up to Liam as he was leaving, and he autographed it for me (sorry no pic, but I'm bringing it to Narrows, and Lions is there to back me up on the authentication). Noel didn't want to sign it, I think he was more concerned with the many hot ladies around us -- seriously were some fucking foxes up there. The most notable thing of the night was at the end, during My Gen, when people started rushing the stage. It started off with one or two people, getting up there, doing some goofy gesture to the crowd and then being shooed off. But more and more started coming up, and overwhelming the stage crew. It got to the point where there was a security guy every couple of feet along the perimieter of the stage as My Gen was finishing. People got up, shook hands with Liam (and one with Noel), LOTS of hot girls ran up and hugged him (this was during the guitar ending to the tune, Liam was done with vox by then), and the security guys were really scrambling to haul people off. They didn't seem to be doing anything either... several people who got up there came right back to where they were, close to us by the end. Noel really found it obviously funny, especially when someone came up to him, he was playing guitar, and couldn't shake (I think that guy got a pic instead). All in all, amazing experience. I wish I could write more, but I can't hear or talk right now, I feel absolutely exhausted and a little bit sick, and I need to get some rest for tomorrow. Lions got a room at some hotel, so I'm all on my own tonight (sorry caro & eggy). The pics are here! community.webshots.com/album/473633987WlaBHYGood night!!!

That was my first Oasis show. And I agree. I feel like I just lost my virginity again. No words can describe how amazing that was... and then when the fans rushed the stage at the end... Just fucking bonkers... Hands down, best day of my life.

GREAT show.
I was 8 rows back, in front of Noel.
Couple things I noticed...
Yeah, tons of people jumped on stage during My Generation at the end. Interestingly, the band never stopped playing, all the way through to the end, although Liam stopped singing after the 2nd verse. It was a pretty respectable cover, really rocking, despite the chaos. Actually, throughout the night a few people had jumped up and been hustled off. But during My Generation, tons of folks went on stage. The very first guy to do it during My Generation walked right up to Liam. For a second, it looked like Liam was pissed and was going to slug him or worse, then the guy said something, stuck out his hand; another second went by, as Liam stared at it, then Liam shook his hand. The guy walked off to security, off to the side, wasn't even escorted off really. Then, it happened, again. Liam seemed less taken aback. The third guy then did it, and this time Liam actually smiled. A couple more came up and went off, and Noel was starting to smirk just a little. Then, it seemed under control for a few seconds, until, as the band continued to jam, Liam took a few steps back, then raised his arms about halfway up, and with his hands motioned: Come. On. Up. That's when it broke loose. I'd say somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 people came up, including 3-5 pretty little girls who gave Liam big hugs. He was clearly digging the whole thing, having a good time with it. Heck I think the whole band was having a good time with it, although just as clearly security was not. Security was not amused, but if they had been doing their jobs right, it never would have started. Noel got a couple handshakes, too. Noel stopped playing a couple times for a quick handshake. It seemed chaotic and out of control, but it wasn't really. The vast majority of the people just gave a handshake or hug and walked off. Lotsa grins from the band throughout. Once they actually stopped playing and the band was walking off, Liam signed one or two things, and Noel ended up signing a good deal more. I think they really like the attention and interaction. It's certainly not the same band it was 10 years ago, is it?
Liam's voice was a little rough, a little, not a lot compared to some of the show boots from out west I've heard. I'm surprised it wasn't rougher considering how cold it was (low '50s, F), which leads to probably the next funniest thing all night after the people jumped up.
At one point, Liam compared the place to Manchester, saying it was "freezing." And it was. Right after he said it, a number of people started shouting out here and there, as if it was a good or pleasant thing, "Yeah! Freeeeeeeezing! Whoo-hoo!" Don't think I've heard too many folks cheering that ever before tonight.
Really, throughout the show, the band was pretty engaging with the audience, Liam in particular. Lotsa chatter, and goofing around, by any standard, and Noel said some things, too, like to be careful with the people jumping up and stage diving, because he didn't want anyone hurt and didn't want anyone crushing any of the "girls" down front. He even dedicated DLBIA to "Haley," a girl down front; he asked what her name was and then dedicated the song to her. She may have been the person he gave his scarf to at the end of the night.
The crowd down front was pretty into the band and the show. Further back, they didn't look to be quite as into it, but were fairly lively nonetheless. I think the cold kept people further back from being totally nuts, too, as they stood a good part of the night and were dancing and clapping, too.
As for the performance itself, as I said, slightly rough on Liam's vocals, but not too bad. I don't think if you hadn't been following the talk of that here and been listening to some of the boots that you would have even really noticed. The band itself was spot-on, Zak's drumming was great.
All in all, just a really great, fun show.

I was unable to attend the show last night because of other circumstances, but it sounds like everyone had a great time. It sounds like the band was great(as expected) and the crowd was into it as well. Keep the stories and pics coming, makes me feel like I was there. Nice job Cleveland and Northeast Ohio!!!!!

hey, castle, who was it that noel took the beer from, took a sip, then gave it back..it was right around the area you were sitting (from the pics) don t know if you saw it Yeah, that dude was more in front of Liam, we were kind of smack in between Liam & Noel. I got a pic of Noel walking back with the beer, but you can barely tell that's what it is. OMG. I couldn't sleep at all last night... fucking headache like you wouldn't believe. I woke up at 730 and watched Sportscenter (go WHITE sox!) because I couldn't sleep and it was too stuffy in my room, then I went back to bed until now. I feel a bit better though... if my plane left any earlier I would probably not be coming to NYC as bad as I felt, but now I feel okay, probably better once I take a shower and find some lunch. They must have got the wireless working in your hotel Lions... I just can't tell you how fucking nuts that was at the end. I have to imagine the first 4 rows of people last night have to be the closest thing to how people are at the huge stadiums at the UK you can get here in the US. Fucking amazing. I think the band were happy they came... it was defo not just another run-of-the-mill show.

That was a great account of the night Castlecraver, I wish I could have been way up there by you but I was still happy just to be there. That was a crazy finale and the security there was terrible, both at the gate and on the stage. But I'm proud of both the band and the fans for it all. The band could have reacted in a number of ways: they could have just stopped and left the stage or become combative with fans since they don't know what could happen. Instead, they embarced the moment and showed a lot of love for their fans. I had to laugh when Noel got in line behind some fans and waited to shake Liam's hand. For all the negative press they get, it's a shame things like this don't get any recognition by the media. And I'm proud of the fans. They got on stage but they didn't do anything stupid while they were up there (except the guy who danced like a vagina ). They politely took their handshake or hug or in some cases autograph and moved along. It was just a really cool scene. I was at the Las Vegas and Detroit shows and I thought this show was the best of the three. I really hope someone got a good bootleg from it and nothing would be better than a soundboard recording. Great show.

Great review castlecraver (& great pics)! There's not much more I could add to that except to say that Blossom was a great place to see a band. This was my second time seeing Oasis & my first time ever at Blossom. It was a beautiful place and the sound was great. I am so jealous of all of you in the front row! I was in sec 37, but the view was great. My husband took a bunch of pics, everything is very tiny, but I have to post one (I like how he caught Zak's sticks in an X in this one). Thanks for the close ups!
