I had been looking foward for this gig since after MSG and philly back in june. I had row L tickets which was pretty close with a friend. I'm from NJ and only go to college in DC and had never been to merriweather before. Apparently, this was unknown to us, but for kids under 21 to drink in the parking lot is a huge no-no. So we were just sitting around before the gig around 7:30 and out of nowhere, 5 normal people wearing normal clothes all surround us. They all take out badges and ask for ID. Of course, we are all 18 and 19 so no one did and we were all written court summons. Fucking sucks. All 11 of us got tickets.
However, on to the gig. I've wanted to see kasabian for awhile but the whole ordeal with the police didnt around til around 8, so i thought for sure i missed their set. However, as soon as I walk in, on the screens it says "due to technical difficulties, kasabian will not being playing" I waited online to go to the bathroom and a guy behind me said something about their stuff being stolen or it just didnt make it to the venue at the time.
Shortly after jet was on. this was the 3rd time i've seen jet counting msg and philly and they were the same. Some of their tunes are alright but i'm not a huge fan. After their set and a half hour later, the lights went dark and this is not a dril lwas played. Suprisingly, it looked to be almost soldout. TUTS and Lyla were great and liams voice was fine. However, during bring it on down half way through the first line of the song, liam walked away from the mic, looked towards the side of the stage and starting yelling at a sound guy. He would have problems later with the microphone during champagne supernova, for the first minute of the song he was raise his arm up and down for how high he wanted the volume. He and noel seemed to be in a good mood and even before mucky fingers while walking off stage, liam put his tambourine on the top of noels head, Set ran the same and it was a brilliant gig. liam gave 1 tambourine to a girl wearing a "i love oasis tshirt" and the other to some guy who was wearing the noel&liam&gem&andy shirt (i think hes a member of this forum). For my generation, liam introudced tom and serge from kasabian to come in and play my generation with the boys. Tom and Serge were jumping around stage like lunatics and you could tell they were loving it. all in all it was a brilliant gig and just sucked that happened before hand. cheers see everyone at staten island sunday
