Okay:
Oasis played at Inland Invasion, and i was there, among others from live4 ever. And since it was my second time seeing OAsis (1st at the hollywood bowl) i was just happy to see them. But the following Monday, the KROQ disc Jockeys dissed OASIS and just kept making fun of them. Even KROQ listeners who went to II called in to say how bad oasis played. The Djs even made up rumors that OAsis were splitting up after this year! Know i am a big Oasis fan, but Liams voice was terrible, he is the only one to blame. I wish i knew what his vocal problem was. Noel and the gang played up to par, but Liam.....
Anyway, this sucks for a fan like me in Southern California, because KROQ hosted the HB show as well as II. So Oasis has left California on a bad note. A concert is coming up december 12th, and i wish Oasis would be there. And now i have feelings that i wont see Oasis In Southern California, because who else would promote them here? It was a great concert, but i wish Liam could step up to the plate. Anyway, i would like to know what you guys think.

I lived out there for a year...have to tell you it doesn't really matter in the scheme of things...only SOCAL cares what kroq says.

I was at the Seattle show and Liam did great. I've also heard some of the recent shows as well on bootlegs and such and he's not doing so good. It seems like ever since Seattle it's been downhill with his voice.... maybe his voice is just getting tired from the tour?

I watched the inland invasion on the computer. it was painful to watch/listen.. liam clearly frustrated... my point being - they did not even need to play that gig... liam's voice gets fucked up, it happens.. perhaps he cld use some lessons or better vocal hygiene... maybe be partied too much ? who knows ? fuck kroq... who cares ? i heard HB was quite good... I know it sucks to hear em badmouth the lads but oh well... they are actually doing very well on this us tour, getting some great reviews and received better by many cities than i wld have thought.. ~ in the history of their usa tours, this one is going phenomenal ! liam did not get abducted by aliens yet or anything... cheer up it might not happen...

I heard the same stuff as well. It does suck b/c KROQ is a very influential station in the modern rock/alternative rock genre. The bottom line is, if the boys put out a radio-friendly record, it will get played on KROQ, if they don't, it won't. And DBTT is not radio-friendly, no matter how much we all enjoy it. And it seems, based on interviews with Noel, that it wasn't really intended to be radio friendly. That's why KROQ is dissing them.
Liam and Noel are the same guys they've always been. If they had huge radio hits off this album, Kevin and Bean would be bowing down to them, like they are currently for bands like Green Day and Weezer. That's the way the game is played.
I don't think any of us think the game is over for the boys in the U.S. The next record may well be more radio-friendly, and having played this tour and Inland Invasion, at the very least they're in the minds eye of the music world's heavy hitters again. And don't forget that the H-Bowl show was indeed basically sold-out and they gave a much better performance there. Anyone with a brain knows they're were a little worn out for Inland Invasion.
And you can bet the record companies will be falling all over themselves to sign up Oasis, with the Sony deal now up. They still sell millions of albums worldwide, and not many current rock acts can say that. Including MOST of the bands KROQ has in heavy rotation.
But the cheap shots do give you insight into the gutless nature of DJs over here. And it comes as no surprise.

Who gives a shit if the next album is "radio friendly" or not? I know I certainly don't. Give me another album like DBTT and I will be more than satisfied

yeah oasis definetly don't need KROQ to be big and sell millions. remember HC sold almost 5 mill. worlwide and it hardly reached 200.000 in america. oasis fan base is very tight and if they keep releasing albums like DBTT they will keep pleasing it

Just another instance of american press not "getting" Oasis -- it's not about Liams voice, which at times can be close to brilliant and some times can be utter crap, both of which we've seen on this tour. Ask the 60,000+ people that would still fill City of Manchester stadium every night for a month even Liam sang through a fucking tracheostomy voicebox. I'm shit-fucking-tickled that they're back on stage with the kind of swagger they had in the mid 90s -- the kind that even Rolling Stone acknowledges as feeling like they're still the biggest band in the world.

I like DBTT a lot. It's nice that they did something different and that it was a great album-wide listen. Having Gem and Andy involved now is huge for the band, and will (hopefully) ensure that they'll be around a long time. Guys like Gem will not let Oasis die. Like Liam as well.
The one thing that sucked tho was when people were leaving during Oasis, after the Weezer set at Inland Invasion. It was sickening. But all that crowd was about was the music they hear on KROQ, which comes and goes. And then the idiots piling on the next Monday morning.
I think we all want ppl to like Oasis here, but if they don't want to get it, then there's nothing you can do but enjoy the music with the real fans.

Kroq sucks big time. The result of the inland invasion won't factor because KROQ is whore when it comes to music. They use praise bands in thier heydays and rip on them when the 15 minutes are up. I doubt the decision makers base who is on the line up on how good they sounded the previous time. KROQ is not an alternative station, it is an alternative Top 40 station.
I hate to say it but the american public has no right in general to make comments on rock n' roll when they bought creed, hoobastank albums. I saw that as a generalization. Not pertaining to us Oasis fans of course. For example, they booked at similar concert earlier this summer one of the shittiest bands of all time. They booked Motley Crue with :
Alkaline Trio Mars Volta Audioslave Bloc Party My Chemical Romance The Bravery MxPx Dead 60's Open Air Stereo Hot Hot Heat Queens of the Stone Age Interpol The Transplants The Killers
How the fuck does Motley Crue deserve to be a headliner or even on the bill.
Fuck KROQ point blank!!!!!!!!

Is kroq a corporate radio station or an independent station? I assume they are corporate...but not sure.

Let's face it, you either love Rock-n-Roll or not. That's all Oasis is. There is none of the phony crap within their music. KROQ goes with the hype. Bands go to them to promote when needed. When established bands like Oasis come out on this tour, they do what they feel they have to to get noticed, i.e. sit through stupid DJ's shtick and do concerts perhaps not for their audience, thier doing it to get the music out there. I didn't have tickets for II (prior engagement), but I still would have gone if Liam hummed. But, over booking themselves does hurt trying to get the new fans. I haven't listened to KROQ in forever, because they THINK their edgy when their just a few cheese slices from being Ryan Seacrest. Rock-n-Roll is important to our band. They do it because they love it. And GOD bless them for it.

KROQ is owned by CBS-Infinity. Pretty much any station on the air in the U.S. is owned by Clear Channel, Infinity, Disney, Emmis or Entercom. They own them all, in clusters in each city. With rare exceptions.
After the II episode, I've sworn off KROQ for awhile. We'll see if they pick up LTBL, but to be honest, I really don't care anymore.

I'm laughing cos I can't believe some of you here STILL even care to listen to KROQ. I USETO listen to it back when they were cool and had Rodney on during the day and Poorman was on too this is when they actually broke bands on their station in the mid 80's early 90's. After like '96, I said "Fuck off to KROQ". Only time I tune in is when Oasis are in the studio, and who often does that happen? Peace.
