Yeah i was actually at that concert last night. Liams voice was much better at the hollywood bowl. Liam didnt even sing the second verse for My Generation, because he probably coulndt have gotten that high. It sucks that they didnt do as good as they could, because thats where they could have sold some albums, and or make a lasting impression on KROQ for when the next album comes out

Just saw the performance. Pretty good in my opinion. But Liam is definitely having some vocal problems.

Liam's vocals sounded pretty strained. Vegas was a lot better.

It's no point saying Liam should have time off, they only started this leg of the tour 8 days ago. For what it's worth, I thought he sounded fantastic on the Seattle bootleg, he tears Lyla apart. He's been a bit on-off this tour and this leg seems to be going the same way. Par for the course really.

My pics weren't good. I was too far out. Like 20 rows back. I did get some cool pics of the big screens, but not really worth posting.
Liam was back in the trenchcoat and Noel in the jacket again btw. The girls with me commented on how "hot" Liam looked (even with the trenchcoat! laf). So I guess rkid's still got it.
It is true that a good many left after Weezer. It was shocking for me, as an Oasis fan, but a sign of the times. The big thing at a show like that isn't the quality of the songs, but what has been played on KROQ recently, or is in heavy rotation - which is why Weezer got that response.
Meanwhile, Live, which played a crackin' set, got no reax earlier in the day - b/c they're now persona non grata on KROQ.
You could've played a tape of Sublime and the Chili Peppers and people would've gone mad.
I think the people leaving really upset Liam, just my opinion. He really seemed upset - much different than the LA and SD gigs, but that might be a little of me reading into it. I honestly don't think Noel cares much. He looks resigned to just going through the motions. That said, he still sounds great and is a craftsman up there. He's on top of every song.
In all honestly, the main reason Weezer was the hit of the night (out of over a dozen bands) for me, was the extra stuff they did. A very cool acoustic song right in the middle of the crowd in front of the lawn seats. And bringing a "fan" out of the crowd to play with the group. None of that stuff took away from the music (unlike Beck, who I love, but he does some goofy stuff that I think takes away from his set sometimes).
Then Oasis came on and played the same set they've been playing, and there was very little interaction with the fans. After the likes of Weezer and the other bands really interacting with the fans, it felt flat when the boys came out and did their normal act.
It would've been much better if Oasis had followed Beck and preceded Weezer, that would've worked great. But it wasn't meant to be.
To Weezer's credit, they did talk about the "Mighty Oasis" during their set, and really pumped up the boys. So I really have respect for those guys.
All that being said, Oasis in a stand-alone environment surrounded by their fans is the greatest, it was just in the context of this festival that it didn't work. And I think it bothered Liam, which in a way it should, because I don't think they interact enough with the fans, and I think they should be playing a fan-friendlier set - starting with Supersonic and maybe some acoustic tunes. They could blow over a KROQ crowd if they really pulled out all the stops.
All this being said, I know they're in the middle of a tour and that it's a grind, etc. But there are plenty of bands that play longer and more varied sets - but of course, I guess I'm just pissing in the wind on this one.
In the end, there's no use in pointing fingers or blaming the boys for anything. They are what they are. You can't expect any more. Especially in Noel's case. The biggest mistake you can make as an Oasis fan is to expect them to copy the methods of other bands. And at the end of the day, their unique style is what makes them what they are. They don't have to jump around or kiss the fans' asses up and down. With Oasis, the train leaves with or without you. And I'm still on the train. Laf.
